2.53.7 breaks "dark background and light text" extension

starting with 2.53.7b1 the add-on "dark background and text" no longer works. reverting back to 2.53.6 fixes issue.
i need dark mode for emails and rss feed

Then you are stuck on 2.53.6 until the add-on author fixes it.

With the help of the add-on author we were able to fix it. Works again in 2.53.7.1.
