jumping several versions as I install on new computer

Post by fredjame »

I am doing a new/clean install on a new computer, to take the place of an old computer
Is there a fairly easy way to migrate/import the email, and bookmarks from the old to the new?
Thank you for any help or guidance you may be able to offer
Regards
Fred James

old computer (64bit)
Mageia 5
Seamonkey 2.26.a1

For email I am not sure if just copying the Mail folder from the old profile to a new one would completely restore the email or not. I have never bothered doing that. For bookmarks, just copy the latest bookmark backup file from the old version and restore it into the new version.

How was the email account(s) set up on the old computer? How is the account set up, as POP or IMAP? In SeaMonkey, the path is Edit->Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings->Server Settings->Server Type".

Try to go via 2.49.5. Make sure you have a full backup of the profile in case something goes wrong.
