MS is preparing for a day when they narrow how you can connect to their servers. This affects Outlook, Thunderbird and Seamonkey and probably others I don't know anything about. The article says that "On Oct. 1, 2022, Microsoft will be disabling basic authentication for its online mail services. "
What I wonder about is this. "Any client or app using Modern Auth will not be affected. Users can switch to other clients (for example, use Outlook on the Web instead of an older Outlook client that does not support Modern Auth) while they upgrade or reconfigure their client apps."
I have known about OAuth2 for some time, Modern Auth, not so much. I use Seamonkey with Gmail, Hotmail, GMX and Yahoo (all POP3).
