Version 2.53.10.1 NOT RESPONDING issues
I have been using Sea Monkey for about 30 years now.
Even my wife is using it.
My system is kinda old but running Win 7.
I am running V2.53.10.1. Since loading the newer version I am getting Sea Monkey not responding and it usually happens during a page load.
Some times it will take 30 to 60 seconds to respond and other time I must go into task manager and force it to close and then restart.
I have thought it was maybe some spy ware or virus so I do run CC cleaner and sometimes it helps and other time it does not help.
Any suggestions????

Check your extensions, maybe there are some old/misbehaving ones

- People who use WindoZe, always comment, that using that shitty CCleaner is not a good idea.

Thanks for the links.
I do have a question... If and when the NOT RESPONDING occurs is that the time to disable the extensions in safe mode?
If problem goes away how do I know which extension may be causing the issue?

Re: Version 2.53.10.1 NOT RESPONDING issues
More important to me, would be to note [SeaMonkey] CPU & memory loads.
And does the "Not responding" subside or do you need to kill & restart SeaMonkey?
Safe Mode obviously requires a restart.
Extensions... harder to pinpoint. You try to make an educated guess, or do 1/2 at a time & see if the issue re-occurs...
Some sites, many sites these days simply suck &/or are programed for "Chrome", & some simply won't work or work well in SeaMonkey. And adblocker (uBlock may help (& certainly NoScript, but that's a different animal.)
Maybe list the extensions you are using...

Fire 750, bring back 250.

Interesting you mentioned CPU and memory.
About 10 min ago I was in SeaMonkey mail and when trying to open a message I got a NOT RESPONDING error. I launched task manager and noticed a high CPU rate and memory.
Right after the page responded and sea monkey came back on line the CPU rate went down to normal id.e and memory dropped about 1 GB.

I find it is very useful to just close (completely - all windows) and restart seamonkey at least every hour or so of use.
As soon as memory use goes to near 1gb it seems to slow down dramatically. I run 64-bit - My machine I5 with 8GB ram.

Re: Version 2.53.10.1 NOT RESPONDING issues
Well, I understand your suggestion.
BUT, I only started getting the NO RESPONSE error with the newer version of Sea Monkey.
The older version I was using for about 5 years before upgrading did not experience these issues.
I have read somewhere that I cannot go back to the older version due to files being deleted with the newer version.
I maybe wrong and if I am someone please advise me that I can install the older version.

Re: Version 2.53.10.1 NOT RESPONDING issues
Do you realize that websites were updated too? They're bloated with JavaScript and sometimes such script causes excessive use of CPU/memory. Why? Because lazy website designers are using Google's model and don't care about web standards. Blocking such scripts sometimes helps. You can use e.g. uBlock Origin:spudgun wrote:The older version I was using for about 5 years before upgrading did not experience these issues.
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-f ... /releases/
You can use build-in function "about:memory" and free some memory (GC -> CC -> Minimize memory usage) after visiting websites heavy of JS.
Reverting to old (outdated) SeaMonkey is bad decision. Dangerous.

I think you nailed it regarding Java.
It does seem to be on certain websites that I get the lag, now that I think about it.
Thanks.

- Damn it, you're a real 'pita' and you make me sick!
Your profile is corrupt/rotten for sure.
So, do yourself a favor, and read the two kb.mozillaZine articles. And run diagnostics.

Re: Version 2.53.10.1 NOT RESPONDING issues
I have the same problem. Seamonkey is always not responding.
I have to keep Chrome open so that I can actually view pages that have an advertisement on them. I copy the url and paste into Chrome so I can actually view the page I want. Very sad about that.
