Msg Body missing graphics

Post by Peter Creasey »

Gmail message arrived and no graphics are displayed despite the fact that <View> <Msg Body> stipulates "Original HTML".

Then when I go to forward the message, the message body to be forwarded shows all the graphics correctly.

Any ideas why the original received message is missing the graphics which graphics then show up correctly when message is forwarded?

Thanks.

Is SeaMonkey set to display messages in Plain Text? Look under View->Message Body As.

Dan, no, as I said upthread -- <View> <Msg Body> stipulates "Original HTML".

Rather baffling.

Message can be made with HTML in two ways:
1) embedded pictures (attached with message),
2) just links/URLs to external source.

In case no. 2 such images are blocked by default. It can be changed:
Menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Mail & Newsgroups -> Message Display -> in field "General" unmark/uncheck/disable "Block images and other content from remote sources"

Image

But remember! It can be used as "tracking function" (kind of telemetry) and in some rare cases (if critical bug is present) it can be used as weakness/vulnerability for attack vector.

If user will forward such message (and composing as HTML is enabled) then all external images will be downloaded before forward. That's why you can see them in your Outbox.

Thanks. That was already unchecked.
