gmail giving me trouble with seamonkey

Post by jgreer »

Gmail considers seamonkey an unsecure app. I've been downloading emails from gmail to my seamonkey for years, but they're going to stop that ability in May. What can I do to keep using both?

Hi,
There are quite a few threads on the subject, so why not do a quick search of the forum/s?

I asked Google about this and here’s their reply: You can enabled 2-step verification on the account and use an application password for Seamonkey to sign in with.

What do you think

Umm, I think that just setting up OAuth2 for your Gmail accesses from Seamonkey is enough? Once I did that, Google has quit threatening me with imminent shutdown of my access to Gmail with "insecure apps". ;)

I did it and my SM continued to work great without any tweaking. Thanks!
