I've been using SM version 2.49.5 up 'til recently w/ Authentication method set to "normal" - has worked for years.
Suddenly over past week or so logging into gmail has been failing consistently using 'normal' authentication method.
Upgraded to 2.53.12 w/ same negative results.
I changed Authentication method to OAuth2 and that seems to work.
Has there been a change in gmail's login policy that now requires OAuth2?
Thx - Attila

Yes, it's a change on Gmail's side, not a bug in SeaMonkey.
Moving to SeaMonkey Support.

I had the same problem.
In the Server Settings, all I had to do was change Authentication Method to OAuth2 then a window pops up asking for you to log in to your gmail account then allow Seamonkey to access.
Works fine now.

Re: gmail login failure (recent)
Hi, I set up the OAuth2 in the pop server and I was then able to get my email. However I cannot send any email, the connection to the server times out. I corrected the outgoing server port to 587 as required by gmail, and then I tried the OAuth2 selection for the outgoing server---still times out? Any suggestions?

Did you set the connection security to STARTTLS? Then it should work.kpdandjad wrote:Hi, I set up the OAuth2 in the pop server and I was then able to get my email. Re: gmail login failure (recent)
As others I had problems receiving Mails from Gmail.
Learned through you here to chance to OAuth2.
However now I have a new problem: The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Invalid credentials.
Any ideas?
Thanks Joerg

Re: gmail login failure (recent)
I was able to get problem fixed, corrected outgoing port, and had to receive the FA2 password from google which I pasted into the password file.
