Have used SM since NN died.
Just recently if I visit https://www.abc.net.au/news/justin/ then click to read an article, no images are displayed (just the alternate text)
Permissions for both http AND https are set to ALLOW. Is there some other setting I've missed or has abc.net.au just taken a dislike to SM?
Latest 2.53.12 on both lappies - one running Win10, other Win7
SM won't display images abc.net.au/news/justin

This is a sort of fix -FynrDzynr wrote: Just recently if I visit https://www.abc.net.au/news/justin/ then click to read an article, no images are displayed (just the alternate text)

Is that a fix? Who knows, you can certainly see the images there now. That might be OK for this guy.
Really, abc.net.au have just taken a dislike to basic website coding. It really is pretty basic stuff - just linked title/text/pics and they still can't get that right! The problems are in their site layout 485.67278b80.cssFynrDzynr wrote:... or has abc.net.au just taken a dislike to SM?
Media sites usually have to handle much more complicated stuff than this - i.e. the most popular media site in the world, so I'm told - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/ushome/index.html gets basic stuff, like images, right and is actually readable if you use Ublock Origin adblocker on it, otherwise the CPU hits the roof.

Re: SM won't display images abc.net.au/news/justin
VIEW - USE STYLE=none only messed it up more.
But I notice that FireFox 101 on the old lappy running Win7 renders the site correctly.
Is it possible to change the UserAgent string in about:config? I presume every time I upgrade SM I'd then have to edit about:config again . . .
I also note that Aust Tax Office site where one has to lodge a tax return also claims SM is an "unsupported browser"

Not really, the page layout gets messed up, but all the images now show, and all text and links show. Still, that's as good as it gets fix-wise.FynrDzynr wrote:VIEW - USE STYLE=none only messed it up more.
Feel free to try, but I've already tested out the UA side for that site.FynrDzynr wrote:Is it possible to change the UserAgent string in..
Probably best you use another browser for that website or fix it yourself for SM. -
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14930728As for the websites that don't work ok in SM? - you're pretty much going to have to fix those for yourself. That especially applies on sites where you have to have an account or where obscure bits of a site don't work

Try adding this to your userContent.css:
I prefer using userscripts for this because it doesn't require a browser restart. Here's one:
The source code in case the above link goes down:
Code: Select all
@-moz-document domain(abc.net.au) {
*[data-component="AspectRatioContainer"] { width: auto !important; height: auto !important; }
*[data-component="AspectRatioContainer"] img { position: static !important; }
}
Code: Select all
https://pastebin.com/gN0i5gF2
Code: Select all
// ==UserScript==
// @id abc.net.au_fix_image@void
// @namespace void
// @name abc.net.au - fix image
// @version 1.0
// @author void
// @description
// @include /:\/\/(?:[^\/]+?\.)?abc\.net\.au\//
// @include *://abc.net.au/
// @include *://abc.net.au/*
// @include *://www.abc.net.au/
// @include *://www.abc.net.au/*
// @run-at document-start
// ==/UserScript==
+function()
{
new MutationObserver(function(a, o){
var ins = document.body;
if ( ! ins) { return; }
o.disconnect();
var style = document.createElement("style");
style.type = "text/css";
style.textContent = (''
+ '*[data-component="AspectRatioContainer"] { width: auto !important; height: auto !important; }'
+ '*[data-component="AspectRatioContainer"] img { position: static !important; }'
);
ins.appendChild(style);
}).observe(document, {childList: true, subtree: true});
}();

That's weird.
The link to the image itself is fine.
So I guess it's the associated code on the page that kills it (in SeaMonkey & PaleMoon).
