SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
I just downloaded Apple Ventura 13.0 on my Mac Studio and now when I try to open SEAMONKEY I get:
"We're sorry. SEAMONKEY had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it starts. To help us....
So does that mean I can't use SEAMONKEY now and that it is not compatible with VENTURA?
And when will this problem be fixed as I need access to my e mails, bookmarks, etc.

You should answer yourself very significant question: what is more important to you, newer OS or your e-mails and bookmarks? Do NOT upgrade OS until you're sure all needed software will work.wwe wrote:[...] I can't use SEAMONKEY now and that it is not compatible with VENTURA?

Possible solutions:
1) update SeaMonkey to latest beta (now: 2.53.16):
https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/
2) downgrade OS to previous version.

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
It is one day old and you updated?
There were nothing but problems in the macOS initial releases since about 10.15.
Might take a look after 2.53.15 is out and at least a ventura point release too. If I find something in the Firefox bug reports I will put it in before.

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
Yes I totally screwed up by updating. Actually this problem with opening SEAMONKEY has never happened before when I've updated my Mac. I did call Apple last night and tried to downgrade to the previous version but it didn't work. I will call them again in an hour and hopefully I will find someone who knows more.
What a total mess. I can get my e mails on my iPhone but of course on SM I have all my saved e mail contacts etc etc.
If anyone reading this has a solution of course I'd love to hear from you. Thanks.

Thank goodness I decided to check here before upgrading my MacBook. My wife's life is in Sea Monkey's mail.

Yes you were smart. I wish I had also but I have never ever had any problems before when Apple came out with a new operating system.Ralph6410 wrote:Thank goodness I decided to check here before upgrading my MacBook. My wife's life is in Sea Monkey's mail.

I don't have Apple computer so I can't check it but maybe it's new security restrictions? Maybe it can be changed?wwe wrote:Still hoping that someone can help me with this issue.

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
At the beginning after update the Seamonkey have not started at all. Got security prompt that forbids to run unknown applications.TPR75 wrote: I don't have Apple computer so I can't check it but maybe it's new security restrictions? Maybe it can be changed?

However I have succeeded to run it using CMD->CLICK from Finder. After start - it crashed (showing seamonkey crash dialog). I have tried to disable security check (disable gatekeeper) - it did not help... Still crashing...

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
I know. What a disaster this is. I have never had this problem with any new Mac new operating system updates so I didn't check first two see if they were compatible. Of course I wish I had now.lbeliak wrote:At the beginning after update the Seamonkey have not started at all. Spent all day yesterday talking to Apple and at the Apple store locally just to get back to VENTURA which I finally did. Now I have to talk to them to find out how to downgrade to MONTEREY!! What a mess.

No clue (if this even applies) but maybe there is some mitigating factor mentioned here, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1776210?

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
I added
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1773584
and
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1776210
to the tree. The current WG9s builds do have them in so please try. If this doesn't fix the crash we might need to build against a later macOS sdk and drop 10.9 to 10.11 compatibility. Nothing which will be done fast.

Re: SEAMONKEY and APPLE VENTURA
SeaMonkey is currently not notarized but until we do an arm build it should not matter. The article suggests it does not matter. If there is a crash it is likely a bug in the OS or apple changed something internally.
The Firefox meta bug is here and they still seem to have problems with some of the new so called security features:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1773708
But no crashes in the code.
