2.53.14 Website Navigation Bar Regression

Post by Lef »

Given the following html file:

Code: Select all

<link rel="linkme" href="https://www.seamonkey-project.org/">
In SeaMonkey 2.53.13 and below the Website Navigation Bar would create a little a button under the "More" folder to link.

In SeaMonkey 2.53.14 it does not, at least not with the bz2 archives made for Linux x64 on the seamonkey website.

Please fix :(

Moving to SeaMonkey Support as no specific bug has yet been identified here.

Are you saying this was an intended change in behavior? I feel like I explained the regression in behavior pretty clearly.

No, that's not what I was saying. This forum is intended for discussion of issues for which a Bugzilla report has been made and a bug number assigned. Prior to that happening, problems are discussed in Support fora as it may be determined that the problem involves a settings, an extension or combination of extensions, or it could be an installation specific problem rather than a program specific issue. I don't recall seeing any other reports of the issue you described and can't attempt to replicate the condition as I don't have a system running Linux. As there is much more traffic here in Support it's more likely other Linux users may notice the topic and provide feedback.

Is there some way you can post an image of what you were seeing and are now not seeing??

It seems nobody knows what icon you are referring to. I certainly cant see any change in seamonkey on windows.

Confirmed.

Create a html file as shown
Open (load, File | Open) said html file
View -> Show/Hide -> Website navigation -> Always

On the Website navigation bar, there is a More "directory".

In 2.53.13, More can be expanded.
In 2.53.14, More is grayed out.

(Now, what any of this does, I've got not clue ;-).)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Actually it appears I spoke too soon, I think the entire Website navigation bar is broken. For example going to https://www.seamonkey-project.org/ should light up the 'Subscribe' button with some options, however in Seamonkey 2.53.14 it does not.

I'm not using this so it's always hidden for me but after some tests I can confirm that Navigation Toolbar is broken.

Does not seem to be the most widely used feature on earth it seems.

Can someone try to get the regression range. Old prerelease builds are available here:
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/nightly/2022/

I can then check which backports or stuff got in at these builds:

Thanks for finding the regression day. Could you check if the next prerelease build dated 12/04 or later fixes it:

It is one of the main reasons I love Seamonkey. The Website Navigation Bar allows for a complete separation between content and interface.
