New computer, trying to replace profile

Post by hayley3 »

Hi!
I saved my Seamonkey profile and then got a new PC for Xmas.
I downloaded Seamonkey onto the new PC and deleted the profile and replaced it with the saved profile.
Now it says can't load profile
I've uninstalled Seamonkey a few times but now it's loading with a blank profile folder.
So I tried and added the saved profile but it's still says can't load profile.

One issue to note , not sure it's important, but my user name under C://This PC/User is missing a letter not sure how that happened or if it's important.

I have an i7 Intel Nuc with Windows 11 Pro.

Don't copy just some subfolder from "Profiles" folder.

Delete "old" (newly created on new PC) and then copy entire SeaMonkey "profile" folder:

Code: Select all

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\
(while moving Profile avoid overwriting, just copy old to new and empty location)

In that way you're safe and don't need to manually modify "profiles.ini" file.

but now what do I do to get seamonkey from loading a blank profile?
I've uninstalled from the Apps of Windows and then re-installed and still it loads with an empty profile.

I find some stray files...will update when I hook up the other computer and get the profile.

You missed or messed with something. Make full backup of entire "SeaMonkey" profile folder and then it's easy:
