Could the developers make Seamonkey compatible
with these banking sites ?
https://ambank.amonline.com.my/

I am still using Windows XP, SP2 on my old Pentium 1.8
computer and the only browser usable with the first two now
is Chrome 49, the last version installable on this version of Windows.
Chrome 49 cannot open the third one, Public Bank.
Once they cease support for Chrome 49, I have no other browser left.
I currently have Seamonkey 2.39, but I don't think the latest
one can open them either.
I also wonder why Seamonkey has not come out
with an Android browser.
(Seamonkey cannot play any Youtube or many other sites' videos either.)

Re: Online Banking Sites
Fixes are made to current release version, now 2.53.*, so it wouldn't help you even if they did, as you are on SM 2.39Tham58 wrote:Could the developers make Seamonkey compatible

Last one shows OK on my SM 2.53.16, the other 2 can be 'fixed' by using the following UA string - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0
...and this method to apply it - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3106156
You should note that with sites you need to log in to then 'fixed' is a relative term, i.e. no idea if it'll all work as it should after you've logged in.
My SM has no trouble with YouTube and other video sites.(Seamonkey cannot play any Youtube or many other sites' videos either.)

Re: Online Banking Sites
Thanks, Mr Raisch and Mr Lion.
I tried the Useragent entries in Seamonkey 2.39 and
managed to log into the second and third bank sites,
Hong Leong and Public Bank.
Hong Leong loads with much difficulty, however, taking ages.
The first one, Ambank, has Javascript errors. It kept
trying to log in for ages, and then Seamonkey locked up.
I think it is because most of these young IT kids in the banks here
only know to program for the Blink and Webkit engines -
that's why they always narrow bank users down to the
same few lousy browsers - Chrome, Edge, Opera, Safari.
You can be sure they have never heard of Seamonkey.
Chrome is a horrible, slowcoach browser with a lousy interface.
So are all the Blink browsers.
I really miss Netscape Navigator.
For the Useragent entries, is the website's main page
sufficient, such "s.hongleongconnect.my", or do I need
to quote the full string, as in
"https://s.hongleongconnect.my/rib/app/fo/login" ?

Re: Online Banking Sites
Neither your OS nor your system or browser will help you here. Most modern websites will not load or be unusable. You need to upgrade hardware and OS. 2.49.5 is the last version supporting XP but it needs SP3 and is already outdated too.
I consider the minimum versions Windows 7 x64 with 4GB memory and a Core 2 Duo from 2008. Older grahipcs drivers are mostly junk so problems with media playback will not go away unless you are able to run with a gfx card/chip having drivers from around 2018 or later available. In case of Nividia from the 4xx branch, Intel HD 4000 (3000 is so so) and AMD HD7770 or later.
You can switch to Linux but it won't help much either with your hardware.

Thanks. I reverted to SP2 because SP3 had countless bugs and Ifrg wrote:Neither your OS nor your system or browser will help you here. Most modern websites will not load or be unusable. Still using it on an old laptop for some special hardware and it is fine. Even tested 2.49.5 on it some time ago. Not an MS fan by a mile but SP3 with latest fixes is much much better than SP2. YMMV but in any case no more fixes.

Re: Online Banking Sites
I did install Seamonkey 2.49 and
it actually ran, though the interface
look strange and the fonts of the buttons
seemed blurry.
I will try again, and maybe use an earlier
version like 2.46.
