Instructions/risks for switching from 32-bit to 64-bit SM
I'm still using SeaMonkey x86 as it still serves my purposes fine and means I don't have to encounter any possible (?) risks of making the switch.
So, what is involved in switching and what risks, if any, might be encountered?
Thanks for any/all thoughts.

Nothing more than downloading the 64bit installer and running it. You can delete the 32bit program directory if you wish to remove the program files but there will be no impact on your profile.
Just the same, it's a good idea to backup the profile before starting any such procedures.

Thanks, Dan, for responding.
I believe you are saying that the 64bit installer will pick up all of my 32bit settings/info without any special action and without any loss of capabilities. And I can immediately run the 64bit package just like I always did with my 32bit system without any difficulties. And right away nothing will feel different to me?
Is this all correct?

What Dan wrote is correct, your profile with all your settings as well as your mails will not be affected.Peter Creasey wrote:Is this all correct?
As Dan wrote, make a backup of your existing profile and uninstall the x86 version of SM before you install the x64 version.

Under Windows uninstall the x86 first and reboot. Then install the x64. If you don't do that some shell extensions (e.g. send to) might not be correctly registered.

Advisable way to handle the SM inquirie(s) associated with the uninstall?
Thanks, all, for the good info.

Backup first.
Add or remove programs (or whatever Win10 may call it).

Fire 750, bring back 250.

Do I recall correctly that there is some kind of inquiries about whether or not to remove certain things? I can't recall for sure whether we were supposed to say Yea or Nay.

Say no to anything that references user/personal data. You only want to remove the program, not anything relating to the user profile.

in the new UI "Settings" window in Win10/Win11, click on Apps (which will show the Apps & Features window for managing/uninstalling installed apps)therube wrote:

in the "old" or classic Control Panel for Win10, it's Programs and Features (run appwiz.cpl in the Run dialog box to launch the old Programs & Features control panel)
