using Mozilla 1.6b on W2K. 1.8Ghz w/512Mb RAM. Installed Moz 1.6b and only two major issues. First one detailed here.
Using CTRL-L to input a URL, cursor jumps to location bar, input first "w" and system stops.... for 8-15 seconds, CPU meter shows 100% usage, then, it drops and I regain control of Mozilla. Tried deleting history, changing cache sizes, and deleting info in location bar... no avail.... any suggestions?

re: CPU 100% on loading URL
not terribly helpful.
the possibility exists that 1.6 version requires different settings in a pref file, or possibly a known problem with a certain cache or history setting. Issues like this have to be discussed and solved for the software products to advance. I've been using beta software as a registered beta tester for more than 15 different companies spanning more than 20 years in the industry. Normally I've solved all my own issues but this one I haven't been able to work around, hence my very first post in a Mozilla group, and I've been using Mozilla since it's inception.
Thanks for the lack of help. I'll remember not to use this group again.
