@TwisterMc & darksphere.
If you want I could build a ppc7400 optimized firefox for you today, so you guys could test if its any faster!
But it will only be this one build, so if its a success you need to learn how to do it yourself...
Ok... I'll give it a go. If better I'll try to learn to build. There are instructions on Mozilla. PS is this as good as the most current version of Firefox?
@ TwisterMc & darksphere.
My firefox build optimized for PPC7400 is ready for trial. Give it a good test and see if its any faster than the official builds!
Installed and running thanks. Now what I don't understand is how is it faster? Or why? What on the inside does it? I'll be back lator with performance feedback.
thanks for your help. I installed the 7400 version, but did not notice any speed increasement. So I think the people with the old G4 can use the normal version and don't have to compile any special versions...
Unlike darksphere, I can carn really notice a difference between the stock Firefox and the tuned one. Launches faster, loads pages in a flash, and I haven't had a crash yet (using it for 10 minutes... =] )
This is on a PCI G4 (7400, I suppose, it was the first ever G4 Mac) running at 350 MHz.
