How do I make Firefox automatically mount *.dmg files that it downloads? Like in Safari?

And how do I make it automatically load downloaded widgets into my widget library?

Look in your download preferences. And check the dmg line.

Auto mounting could be a BIG MISTAKE for security by the way...

Yeah, I never liked automount in Safari too. Had it turned off. Like MozJF mentioned, bad for security...

hi powerbook,
Is there a reason you don't use autovectorization in your builds?

Yes, short of testing time.
I'll see if I find time to compile a build with autovectorization and compare its performance to my regular build this weekend...

Or if you have already tested and verified its faster, please post some results! ;)

OK, I've now done a little test. This is not a comprehensive test but at least it's something.

with av:
• CSS Rendering Benchmark: 1306ms, 361ms.
• BenchJS - JavaScript: 24.15 seconds.

w/o av:
• CSS Rendering Benchmark: 1498ms, 342ms.
• BenchJS - JavaScript: 23.60 seconds

As you can see the CSS rendering is slightly faster with autovectorization but JavaScript is slightly slower although not by much.

Firefox startup time is noticably slower without av. There is about a 2 second difference on my iMac G4.

So from my few tests it looks like autovectorization is worth it.

Hey, for any G3 users looking for a good build, the 7400 version of 1.0.4 works on my iBook G3 (haven't tried the 7450 version). Now all my computers can use the middle-click as it was intended! :¬D

It's funny, I'm using the 7450 version on my G5 and the 7400 version on my G3.

artooro. As your small test show, there are no major speed improvement using autovectorization..
I'll perform some tests myself, then post the results here.

Raptor007. Nice to see you have found a solution to your middle-click problem, even if its not a perfect one.
Lets see if a G5 optimized 1.0.4 version hit this forum in a few days.

this sounds like a benefit that we could use, regardless of any other differences that may be negligible

im using the 0622 nightly of this build and i tried downloading the new official firefox google toolbar (toolbar.google.com). however, upon installation, the extensions manager says (in red) Deer Park is checking for a compatibility update to Google... and doesn't allow any right clicking options or anything. Any ideas to get it working?

edit: now im getting unexpected error -203 if i try to install it again.

weerez. Sounds like the Google Toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 1.0+.
Since you get an unexpeted error -203 now, you must should start Firefox in safe-mode and uninstall the extension. Or restore your profile backup.

By the way; you're Firefox is 2 weeks+ old, perhaps its time to update... ;)

I tried to install it yesterday. The Google page says that it is comptatible with 1.0+, whatever that means. Anyway, it doesn't install correctly on nightly builds (and crashed my browser on the way). It does work fine on FF 1.04.

PS - the error -203 shouldn't be there, if you use the latest builds.

BTW, powerbook, if you're bored one of these days:

You now can make a build without menubar... :-)

I saw the article and picture that Josh posted 2 days ago.

Looks really promising, but I'll wait until the menu bar works before I give it a try.
