64-bit Lightning

Post by DaAwesomeP »

I know that this has probably been brought up multiple times, but I just install Thunderbird/Earlybird x86_64 from http://wiki.mozilla-x86-64.com/Thunderbird:Download. All of my Add-ons work fine except for Lightning, which is really the most important one. It can see my calendars listed on the left pane, but no actual events nor tasks at all appear or are even listed.

Is there an updated 64-bit Windows build of Lightning?

Thanks,
DaAwesomeP

There is no official Win64 Release builds of Thunderbird. This linked site is never really truthful in what these builds really are and from when they were built. It is likely a Random Nightly build taken from the ftp from March or April when 31.0 was being developed on that channel back then as there are six weeks of such builds. It is Not a Win64 build of Thunderbird 31 Release.

This is not from Earlybird channel (not a codename) since there are no Win64 builds on that channel so the person who posted it either mislabelled a Nightly build or built it from source as a WIn64 build him/herself even, but then why that instead of the Release. Hmm the person repackaged the installer in a .zip file and file date is August 6 so there is no way for me to know without installing it.

These Win64 builds from http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/moz ... d/nightly/ are not officially supported as like with Firefox are just likely being built to catch regressions/bugs as it is possible to affect Win64 without affecting the official Win32 builds. The earliest Firefox will have Win64 builds is Firefox 37.0 in a first phase release if all goes well then maybe Thunderbird will have Win64 then.

The following link has recently been updated: http://wiki.mozilla-x86-64.com/Download

There are now downloads for Thunderbird/Earlybird 31.3.0 x64 for Windows and Lightning 3.3.3 x64 for Windows. The Lightning download comes packaged with the Google Provider for Lightning, but it is the old version that uses the old API and doesn't work anymore. The regular one from the Mozilla Addons site works fine anyways.

Again EarlyBird is not a codename of a version release or a third-party build but one of the four main development channel names.
