[FX] elfurbe: Nightly [Branch|Trunk/OSX] (G3/G4/G5/Intel)

Post by elfurbe »

So I've started building Firefox in Powerbook's image. My builds are fundamentally identical, except I put my name in the uagent string. At least, I'm pretty sure that's working... :)

My optimization flags go like this:

7450: -Os -mcpu=7450 -faltivec
7400: -Os -mcpu=7400 -faltivec
G3: -Os -mcpu=G3
G5: -Os -mcpu=G5 -faltivec
Intel: -Os -march=prescott -mfpmath=sse,387 -mieee-fp

If you're wondering about which build to download for your machine, I've prepared a little page to help you pick the right one:
http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/whichbuildforme/

RSS Feeds (currently kinda broken):
main: http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/rss_feed.php
This feed shows the newest builds for each architecture in each release series. So, you'll see several entries, three for each processor. The first will be from the 1.5.x series, the second (denoted by FX2) will be from the 1.8-branch/2.0/BonEcho series, the third (denoted by FX3) from the 1.9/3.0/Minefield series. This feed serves to show the newest builds available from my site.

I also have arch-specific feeds. These feeds will show the newest builds available for download for the specified architecture. Each one always has three entries, one for 1.5.x, one for 2.0, one for 3.0, just as above, except only for the specific processor in question.
G3: http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/rss_feed.php?cpu=G3
G4 (older): http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/rss_feed.php?cpu=7400
G4 (newer): http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/rss_feed.php?cpu=7450
Intel only: http://firefoxmac.furbism.com/rss_feed.php?cpu=intel

I'm not particularly good about keeping things updated manually, so the site and the rss feeds are canon, as they update automagically as soon as I upload a new build, thanks to the wonder of php.

Thanks a lot for picking up the effort elfurbe. However, the feed for 7450 doesn't work. I get the live bookmark failed to load error in firefox.

Can you guys reproduce this ?

1. If you had a custom theme installed and active, with 20050723, the theme is no longer used by the browser, although the Theme Manager still says it is active - Firefox reverts to the default theme. (on 20050722 the custom theme in use was working correctly, but not anymore with the next upgrade).

2. I cannot install by any means a theme (either downloading from addons.mozilla.org or dropping the jar file into the extension folder).

I filed bug 301872 for the first problem and bug 301875 for the second problem.

Note - I'm using the official nightly right now, and haven't tried with elfurbe's build.

You're right! I hacked some code and forgot to update the rss generator. Should be fixed now, I think.

Thanks for the heads up!

About the bugs in my previous post.

It appears they were only affecting the official nightly; partly they were caused by something that was being checked in during the build process. Anyway, with the 0724 build, I could install a theme again (but only by downloading it) and Firefox is using that theme correctly. There are stil a few problems to iron out, but that should be fixed very soon.

yeah, I've been having problems building today. I'm not sure why. I'm working on a resolution. I can't decide if my script is borked, or if the source tree has some issue. The tinderbox is reporting clean, so I don't know why I can't get it going. Be assured, it's in the works. I'll delete that 07.25 build right now.

Ok, I think I've got my builds going properly again. Rewrote my build script from scratch, seems to be working again. Thus, we have:
