I need many, many TEST PILOTS (for an experimental build)!!!

Post by moox »

I have incorporated mmoy's current jpeg code optimizations into a new build. Here is the direct link:

MozillaFirefox_20040507_PILOTBuild.exe

In theory, the code fixes from mmoy will only be used on SSE2 enabled CPUs, such as P4 or A64. Nonetheless, the build will also work on AXPs and likely other CPUs as well. We (mmoy & I) are looking for feedback from users of any CPU, but especially P4 and A64.

Go ahead - try it out and post your thoughts and feedback. For what its worth, this build uses these optimization flags: /Oxp /GAF7s

Thanks!

Just downloaded it and using it now.

Can't really tell you about stability until I have used it for a while but the speed seems fast. In fact, it seems to be a lot faster compare to bangbang23 05/06/2004 build which I was using previously.

Edit: Forgot to add my system configuration

Pentium 4, 2533 (533 Mhz FSB)
Windows Xp SP2
1 Gig Ram

Works like a charm.

No problems encountered yet, after a couple of hours moderate usage with P4 - 1.7 GHz, 256 MB, Win XP

Just downloaded and seems to run fine. I can't objectivley say whether it is any faster than my previous build, but it certainly seems nippy enough. I'll add another message if I come across any problems.

Athlon XP 2200

Windows XP SP1

It sure seems to be a lot faster at rendering, but now firefox "forgets" to render a page sometimes and it takes about a second for the page to pop up (blinking cursors still get drawn, objects appear when mousing over them)
I already tried different nglayout values, to no avail. =(

If this is trunk, then I think it's normal. I had that problem yesterday when I switched to my trunk build.

I've unpaked it aswell (over previous version, I'm lazy :))
Got an Athlon XP (2500+ @ 3200+)
I'll keep y'all informed if I encounter any problems (especially JPEG ones).

Thanks Moox and MMoy for the effort you put into this!

Thanks for the initial feedback. If it is not too much trouble, keep testing and we will see what happens. I am waiting for the latest jpeg patch myself...

just installed this build, and it seems faster than the 05/06 one.
i'm also seeing the flicker bug, but its only for a split second so it really doesn't bother me. maybe it has to do with my connection speed (1mb)
so far no problems

No problems here and definitely feels zippier than yesterday's build.
