Why is spyware/internet junk with my mozilla build?

Post by BadboyKAS »

I either installed longvarn or darkstar fx 05-09 version and I have removed spyware from it. This should not be included and it seems as tho it was a part of the browser cuz when I reopened firefox it had a message asking me about reinstalling the bullshit. I also had not yet used my internet explorer for anything other than windows update. This is a fresh installation of windows so the spyware had to be from here or winrar.

What was the spyware called? What did it open? What did it do? How do you know it was spyware?

If we are going to help or explain, you need to be much more explicit in your description.

Sorry peter I can't be more specific. I can't say for sure that it is the mozilla but why would I get spyware from microsoft? also why would firefox ask me about ncase installation after I used bps spyware remover to clean. I had to restart to finalize cleaning but I didn't instead I opened firefox due to finding this bullshit before. anyways get back to me

Also make aure u scan ur computer for spyware before u reply. I didn't notice any spyware whatsoever when I installed mozilla.

Ill check the programs for log's in a second and ill tell u which spyware exactly was in the firefox. I am using BPS Spyware Remover 8.2 build #9 it uses it company's spyware database, coupled with its own its prolly the best spyware remover.

Firefox doesn't come with spyware. At all. Ever.

The worst you will have is some tracking cookies and, err, that's about it. If you don't like cookies, turn them off.

If you actually got spyware with Firefox, it is from the unofficial build you installed. Mozilla does not bundle spyware, ever. If you want to keep yourself safe, always download directly from Mozilla.

I think you have made an error. I have DL'd and scanned many of "longVarn"(haha) builds. There is not any spyware included. I am a bit paranoid, so I have Spysweeper, Adaware Pro, and Spybot all running on my machine

My point is that you have acquired your Pests from somewhere else. Well, I have only ried one of darkstars' builds myself but believe me if it was bundled with spyware you would not be the only person posting to this issue

Sounds like a pretty bad spyware scanner.

I've installed hundreds of builds from other builders and have never seen one problem with spyware or viruses. I have Ad-Aware, Norton Corporate, Zone-Alarm and hardware firewalls at work and at home (though the home one is better).

If you want to be really sure, build your own.
