This is due to the fact that you didn't restart to finalize cleaning. Some links with information about nCase:

http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=507

www.doxdesk.com wrote:nCase/Alert is a randomly-named executable run at start up that checks that for nCase being removed. It then offers to reinstall the main program, or remove itself (this option does work, rather better than the 'official' uninstall in fact).

Sounds to me like the portion of the spyware that was still active due to you not restarting your system was simply using your browser to present you with the option of reinstalling. That is not the fault of Firefox, don't shoot the messenger.

Well, I may be able to answer this one.

BPS Spyware Remover is a stolen knockoff of Spybot S&D. Read the Spybot forums if you want more info. The author of Spybot S&D sets up some fake fingerprint definitions in each build so that people like BPS who steal his work can be found out.

The ONLY two programs you should be using to check for spyware (both free BTW) are Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-aware. I'd be wary of anything else, ESPECIALLY payware spyware removers. Here's the correct links too as some unscrupulous individuals add spyware to them from other locations:

http://security.kolla.de/

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Also be aware that a fresh install of Windows comes with four pieces of "spyware" as classified by Spybot, and one additional that Ad-aware finds. They are Alexa keys and a couple of GUID functions. Are these the culprits?

You may also find that if you aren't using a firewall activated BEFORE you connect your computer to the outside world you may have had a window of opportunity for someone to install malicious software on your machine regardless of what you installed or used. Whenever you reinstall Windows, do it with your network and modem cables unplugged until you've set up your firewall (ZoneAlarm free is a good one).

Sorry to rain on your parade, but there are plenty of ways to get hit with spyware, virii etc, and sometimes it's the programs that SAY they remove spyware actually installing it!!

Avoid BPS like the plague people!

....which is why you've got spyware on your computer in the first place!!

I'm not saying this to be flippant - it's important that people are aware that not all software masquerading as benign software, actually is.

I really can't add much more to my lengthier post above, except to say that if you don't believe me, try running the programs I've recommended to see what additional spyware they catch over BPS - you may be unpleasantly surprised by the results.

Just let him think whatever he wants to think since that makes him happy. It's pretty funny when you know that there is no spyware in my or Darkstar's builds (I know I don't put anything in it, and I use my own builds), to see someone get angry because he's so convinced of something that isn't true.
