Why the URL Alert?

Post by realgeorge »

Something has happened. I seldom have problems with builds I install on my Win98/PII. I don`t use extensions or themes, and I always create new profiles. However, I have installed several builds today including Branch and Trunk, and when each starts to launch I get a popup alert that says, "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", and everything is stopped. Does anyone know what this means, and how it can be corrected? It has shut me down from trying new builds.

Defaults

bcool came up a suggestion on another post that fixed the problem: He posted "Did you ever make Firefox the default browser on your system? If so, would it matter if you returned IE to default temporarily just to see if any of these builds would work again (as a non default browser)?" I set IE6.0 to be the default browser as he suggested, installed the new build, launched it, configured it, and then set Firefox back to be my default. Everything is fine now. Thanks again bcool.
