As the title says, I'm new to it and don't really know much about it other than what it does.
I am so used to using compact menu on Firefox and Thunderbird and I was wondering if there is any way to make it work with Sunbird or if there is any other way to compact the menu?
New to Sunbird, does it support extensions?

Yes, Sunbird supports extensions. But there are two other things to consider:
1. The extension you want to use must support Sunbird. The changes required to make it support Sunbird range from easy to impossible, depending on what the extension does.
2. Sunbird's extension manager is broken, but there are a couple of ways to work around this. See the installation instructions for Journal for details.
