Although I have Event and Task reminders set to "Off", every time I create an event or task, it adds a reminder which is the default reminder unless I change it manually.
I would prefer to have no reminders unless I put one in but the off switch doesn't seem to work.
Is this a bug or am I missing something.

I suggest to check your settings in Options > Calendar > Reminders > Reminder Defaults. And if you are using Google Calendar check the default reminder settings in the Google Calendar web interface too. If enabled Google will silently add reminders to the events created in Lightning.
