I keep getting this message - just started a few days ago and never had it before.

"Unable to write to file:C:\Users\Philip\Documents\Calendar backup\2016-07-09_Phone calendar.ics"

I didn't know that there was a backup in place, and this folder does not exist. However, there is a folder with the same address except for the "Philip"

What is going on and how to I stop this popup error nmessage.

I believe it stores a copy of the calendar data in storage.sdb (for backwards compatibility), local.sqlite and the associated .ics file (so that it can be imported by other calendar programs). Did you omit several characters in that error message? If it includes a file: prefix I'd expect it to be something like file:\\ and maybe replace the embedded space with %20 to follow the conventions of a file URI.

This thread seems to be a duplicate of http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3013943 . Its against the rules to cross-post. I locked the one in Thunderbird Support. You might need to ask in https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum ... t.calendar . The only similar posts I found there were when exporting the calendar, and were pretty old.

Hi - the error message was copied and pasted from the actual message, so I didn't leave anything out. It stiil pops up and I can't find anyway of changing anything to make a difference. Originally, I had no folder in my windows explorer with that precise address, so I created one, bbut still the error mesage appears. Sorry abut the duplicate posts - my mistake.

OK - I found it. I had an automatic export addon which was trying to export the calendar to this location. Not sure why I had it, and don't remember downloading it, but there it is. So I've now disabled it and the error message has gone away. Thanks for the clues which lead me to this solution.

The automatic export may be a Thunderbird extension that backs up your calendar(s). It's not trying to move your calendar; it's trying to copy it elsewhere so that you have a backup.
