Google calendar subscriptions not syncing.

Post by nym9 »

Google calendar is synced with Thunderbird calendar, when I add an event its displayed on Tbird, phone, and google.com

However when I subscribe to a calendar in Google, I can only see it on my phone and google.com, not in Tbird.

Is there any way to refresh subscriptions or otherwise get these events displayed in Tbird?

You want to add the extension "Provider for Google Calendar" == https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... src=search

Been using it for years, that's why every event I add - phone, google.com, tbird, syncs immediately on all three.

The problem is the 'calendar subscriptions' only sync on google.com and my phone, they don't get to tbird, they don't show up in the calendar itself, or on the left sidebar which lists the calendars you want to display or not.

Have you tried selecting the calendar, right click on it and click "Synchronize Calendars", or a Refresh from the phone?

EDIT: You could also right click on the calendar, select Properties and see what the setting is for Refresh Calendar. Mine is set to "Every 60 Minutes". Adjust that to your preference.

Refresh syncs events for me, not subscriptions.

If you subscribe to a calendar at google.com or a website, is it supposed to work with the Tbird Calendar? Mine immediately just show up on my phone.

Seems like the left sidebar in Tbird Calendar, or the settings should have an "Add Calendar" option.

Left sidebar being the Calendar Pane with the Calendar List.

If the Calendar List isn't showing, from the Menu Bar or button, use View > Calendar > Calendar Pane and enable the Calendar List. Then select a calendar, right click on it and select "New Calendar".

I'm subscribed to US Holidays and have my events showing in Thunderbird.

You also need the Provider for Google Calendar extension installed.

Did you subscribe within Tbird, or just at google.com?

Subscribing to google.com only displays my events in my phone Google calendar, not Thunderbird.

How do I get a new calendar subscription to show up in the Pane? (and how do I remove them?).

And once it shows up, how do I force it to display? (I actually put US Holiday in the Pane many years ago, can't remember how, but checking it doesn't add any events).

I subscribed to my Google Calendar within Thunderbird. It didn't have any data in it at the time.

Follow the instructions in the link I provided in my previous reply and you should be fine.

US Holidays is "Read Only" and can't be edited. That would change the calendar for all users.

See post 3, I've been using Provider for Google Calendar for years.

I have US Holidays in my Tbird pane but checking it doesn't add any Holidays.

How can I delete and add US Holidays again?

You don't see Independence Day on July 4th, Labor Day on Sept. 3rd, Columbus Day and Halloween in October?

In TB right click on it and click "Unsubscribe Calendar..." from the context menu.

Unsubbed, went to google.com Calendar, subscribed, and like the other new ones it does not show up in the Tbird panel and does not add events in Tbird.

It did show up in my phone though.

See if this solution helps.

To get to the Config Editor go to Options > Advanced > General Tab and click the Config Editor button, dismiss the warning.
Search for googleapi, right click on it and click Reset.

EDIT: You don't even have to do that, as I just discovered while playing around in a new profile.

In Thunderbird select a Calendar from the list.
Right click and select New Calendar.
Select "On the Network" in the Create New Calendar window, click Next.
Select "Google Calendar", click Next.
Locate your calendar, it should have your gmail.com address already selected for you. Click Next.
Select the calendars you want to subscribe to and click Next.
Your calendar has been created. Click Finish.
