can't load Google calendars: McAfee?

Post by DN123ABC »

We had Google calendars running just fine in older Thunderbird.

With newly updated Thunderbird, the calendars stopped working.

Seeing this error message:

DOMAINNAME\Username ran C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe, which attempted to access C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ajh5377v.default\extensions\staged\{a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc}.xpi\gdataUtils.jsm\C0000000.js. The potentially unwanted program named Suspicious Attachment!script was detected and deleted.

Is this just something which needs to be whitelisted in McAfee, or could it be an actual problem? Seeing it on more than one computer. Thunderbird won't load calendars, and gives error messages on them. It seems to show Lightning and Google Provider have installed OK, it just won't open anything except local calendar.

We can open the calendars fine with a web browser. No other settings have changed, other than the Thunderbird automatically updated itself.

Is McAfee up to date?

Does it work if you disable McAfee?

Do you really need it for email? Not according to this article.

The McAfee is console driven, so will need to check there. Is there a way of seeing if this is the source of the problem?

Not going to disable our antivirus program. Will give it a list of exclusions.

Here is what it is reporting:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-event-dialog.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-lightning-item-iframe.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-migration.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\calGoogleCalendar.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\preferences.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-calendar-properties.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-calendar-creation.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\browserRequest.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdataUtils.jsm\C0000000.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmp-pmo.xpi\gdata-event-dialog-reminder.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\5s4r507d.de...\broswerRequest.js
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\5s4r507d.default...\C0000000.js

It says the action taken was "Delete".

Should I just exclude/exempt the .js files? I am very leery on doing this. Aren't these .js files (javascript) the typical "vectors" for viruses to get in?

You will have to hope a McAfee expert comes along.

Some light reading for you.
