Calendar Not Loading With Thunderbird 68.1
Morning...
I continue to have this issue with TBird 68.1, after having major issues in 68 to the point where I reverted to 60.9.
It is a hit or miss proposition if Lightning will load.
Thunderbird loads, I see my emails, it immediately goes blank, tells me TBird is not responding, then it reloads the emails again, sometime with the calendar, sometime without the calendar.
In 68, it just wouldn't load, at least in 68.1, it does load most of the time if I exit Thunderbird and restart it.
Any idea what is causing this?
I only run one add-on, Lightning, and I have a new profile.
BTW, I also run TBird portable 68.1, I have no loading issues whatsoever.
Thanks, in advance...

Have you updated that extension to the August 31, 2019 version 68?

Dan, my Lightning version is 68.1, I assume that's the latest.

It works, so thank you.
What I don't understand is that after the initial loading of just email, immediately fades to a blank page that says "Not Responding", reloads immediately again with the email and calendar (hopefully from now on) completely.
I have no clue on how to diagnose that one.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Dan, yes, it does...
Interestingly, Portable Thunderbird 68, now 68.1 does exactly the same thing, only difference is that I've had no calendar issues in Portable.

Re: Calendar Not Loading With Thunderbird 68.1
Dan, same calendar issues today. None of the remedies are working.
As with 68.0, same issues - 68.1 overrides the preferences and options, that's a big part of the problem, I believe.
Still won't automatically download messages either.
60.9 and everything before that for years has been flawless.
Am I the only person having these issue?
Where do I go from here?
Thanks.

Re: Calendar Not Loading With Thunderbird 68.1
I haven't seen many reports of problems such as this. It may be profile specific due to a particular set of extensions or settings.
Is that portable installation running against the same profile as the installed version or does it have it's own profile?

BTW, I only have one extension, Lightning, as I mentioned in the other thread for 68.0.

Same here. I've already downgraded back to 60.9. Thunderbird 68.1 feels like a beta version at best.tpaulr wrote:Morning...

ton85,
Same here, going to downgrade, too many other odd things, as well - embedded links won't open anymore as another example.

Re: Calendar Not Loading With Thunderbird 68.1
Embedded links not working is a Windows issue, not a factor of which version of Thunderbird you are using. Make sure that the browser you wish to use (Firefox?) is set as the default application under Windows. When you click on a link in Thunderbird it sends a call to the operating system to launch the default browser. When the OS does not "remember" what application is to be the default, nothing happens, just as you have seen. See this link to set the default browser -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Setting_Your_Default_Browserembedded links won't open anymore as another example.
