Question about adding an event to Google Calendar (TB 68.10)

Post by tomdkat »

Hi! I'm running Thunderbird 68.10 (maybe 68.12) on Ubuntu 20.04 Linux (64-bit). I received an invitation to a meeting via email and I saved the attached ICS file for importing into Lightning. When I manually imported the ICS file, I was given the choice of which calendar to use and I chose my Google calendar. The event got added and appeared in the calendar just fine.

I then noticed, an email message, from the account I use to access the Google calendar, was sent to all the invitees (including myself). I found this odd, since I was simply adding the event to the calendar and not creating a new event I selected invitees to attend. Or does the act of adding an event, with existing invitees, get treated the same as if I had created the event an manually invited people?

Thanks in advance!

Peace...
