How to change the default event color (2)?

Post by MozillaMonkey »

Limpet235, there is a big difference between the two posts:

-How to change the default event color?
-Event category color.

At first glance they may seem the same,
but if you use the Calendar app, you will
know the difference between the two.

There was no need to lock the first post.

You linked my original thread to 'Event category color' which is completely different.

Well I figured out how to change the default event color.

Now the problem is that there is a border around each event! :(

Why did the programmers mess with Sunbird's model?
In Sunbird I have white events (matches the white color of the calendar).
So the only thing you see is the black text of the event.
There is NO border for each event.

I am not going to get my hopes up, but can you remove the border from an event?

The default event color is the color of the calendar you are using.

Select the calendar in the calendar list.
Right-click on it and select Properties.
Click the color box, and enter #FFFFFF in the Color Name field for white.

I don't see any border around the event, only the time grid.

These programs are not for the faint of heart. :)
And I have been using computers for more than 30 years. :(

First of all, the program I am using for this thread is Thunderbird.

The app does not allow me to enter #FFFFFF as there is no Color Name field.
You can only select a color, I don't see a box to enter a code.

I did choose White though, and what happened then was fascinating.
Several appts. in the calendar changed so that the black border was removed from them (as desired).
But most of them maintained the black border. :(

I have only one calendar, so this isn't a case of two or more calendars merging together.

And as I said in an earlier post, in addition to this, the appointments were imported
with appt. times that are all 3 hours later than should be!

Slowly but surely I am making new discoveries.
Not solutions, just discoveries. :(

I just discovered that the reason I am getting black borders for most of my calendar entries is because they don't have a time associated with them!
Add a time and the border disappears! :(

This is NOT the way it works with Sunbird !!!!
All events in Sunbird have no border (whether with a time or not).

I am also using Thunderbird.
Don't have borders for my events that I can discern.

Maybe you need to supply a screenshot.

Sure if I can figure out how to attach one. :)

The shot I took has 5 events.
4 of the 5 events do not have a time associated with them
and so have a black border.
One has a time and has no border (actually there is one but it is practically invisible).

Okay, I had to change my operating system theme back to a light theme to see them on my system.

Looks like you need some CSS code to remove them. I'm not an expert on that.

Thanks for going the extra distance to see what it looks like. :)

Now that I am able to get the portable version of Sunbird to work
I think I will just use Thunderbird as a Newsreader.
