Firefox iOS vs. Firefox Focus iOS?

Post by markg2 »

I have Firefox installed on the iPhone.

I received an email this morning hyping Firefox Focus. Is this a new/different browser, a name change or ?

The Firefox browser for iOS is basically a shell due to Apple restrictions as it does not use the same Gecko and JavaScript engines as desktop and Android Firefox uses.

I got the email too, and I only have Windows and Android installations. It must have gone out indiscriminately.

I've just on ghacks.net that Firefox Focus while being hyped as a means of blocking analytics and trackers on iOS is collecting data itself and sending it to a third party company called Adjust: http://www.ghacks.net/2017/02/12/firefo ... y-scandal/

I hope that Mozilla won't try doing the same thing with the browser we all know and love.
