Android beta over stable?

Android beta over stable?
Is there a way to install Android beta builds over the top of an existing stable installation? I know it can be done in Windows, I really want to avoid installing and configuring everything from scratch.

Only if you're rooted or write an add-on (and at least for Release, the add-on route will stop working with WebExtensions).
