I recently purchased a sprint ppc 6700 about a week ago. It came installed with windows mobile 5.0 and IE mobile. As far as speed and functionality, IE was great. The only problem I was having with it was flash not being able to display properly (i.e. media player on myspace & purevolume) even after I installed the latest flash player on my phone. I figured it might have something to do with javascript so I decided to look for another browser. On my desktop PC I have Firefox (and have had it about 2 years, and yes, it' absolulety wonderful) so I decided to see if Mozilla had a browser for WM5, so anyway, I found and installed Minimo. The first time I loaded Minimo, the dragon head stayed for about 30 seconds as it was loading. Upon using it after it had loaded..it was still verrrrrry slow. I then closed all running programs and still experienced slow use as before. I have looked at the Minimo FAQ and came across nothing to fix my problem. I read here to do a hard reset, and that too was unsuccessful. Another thing that caught my attention on the FAQ was the "menu" function. It says to click the globe in the upper left hand of the screen. When I have the browser open I saw nothing like that. I also reviewed the Screeni shots on the Minimo page and saw nothing resembling a globe in the upper left corner. So for the final conclusion:

1: How can I get Minimo to run faster and smoother?

2: Is it possible to listen to music on purevolume/myspace with Minimo?

3: How do you get to the menu in Minimo?

Sorry for the long read, and thanks in advance to anyone with a solution(s)!

thanks, I found it now, only it looks like a sheet of paper with a blue arror hovering over it.

this is taken from the Minimo FAQ..

"Where are all the Menus?

Menus are accessible by clicking on the blue globe in the upper left hand corner."

Anyway, thanks for your reply!

I have the same problem on my treo 700w. Everything is so slow. To start with the application takes minutes to launch. I have upgraded every time a new nightly build come up and have not seen any increase in speed.

I have the same problem too with 014 and 015.

Minimo is so slow it's useless.

Yeah, it looks like it has potential but as of now it is unuseable. I'm surprised that they haven't been concentrating on trying to speed this thing up before adding so many features. Have you had any luck with early versions being quicker and useable?

FWIW, I am experiencing the exact same problem with my PPC-6700 --- it's either locked-up or unusably sluggish.

I'll look forward to the next build...

I agree. Minimo is clearly not working properly on a variety of devices. I would have thought adressing this would have been a priority before adding "fluff".

I do however appreciate the efforts of the developers.

Hi. Brilliant work firstly. You guys are filling a niche that has been there for oh so long. All the ipaq 19xx series run pretty badly with minimo. That a pretty big consumer base just there, but yeah there's plenty more. Is there any way I might be able to optimise minimo for my ipaq h1935. It runs ok on all the other browsers available, but I just prefer want minimo becuase I get guilty every time I have to rip a proprietary version and have to deflock myself... :)

I am having the same problem as described with Minimo on my Fujutsu-Siemens Pocket Loox N560: it is extremely slow to start (even after the first time of having started), and runs so slowly that it takes many seconds even to register that I have selected or highlighted text, making simply entering the address a huge chore. The features are cute (the tiny text is good for the hawk-eyed amongst us), but it is quite unusable, I'm afraid. Pocket IE has no such problem (although is, of course, more basic in its functionality).

I have it on my X51v, and the tiny fonts, and no obvious option (I have to add a string to the about:config page) for making it pretend to be a desktop browser, and the slowness sadly makes it useless for me. I hear some people have resolved this issue, but I am using the latest nightly (today's, 6/5/06, in fact). Any help? I truly hate PIE...

Can someone please throw me a bone here. Just some generic tips to speeding up Mozilla would be welcomed by all. Surely the dev's have a moment to help us grommits. I tried using Minimo at 30 000 feet at 850 klm per hour and that seems speed the rendering time up a little - fortunately I had the wind behind me.

Great work guys!
