Yes, I finally have news!

I've just made available the first alpha release of RequestPolicy 1.0. You can learn more here: https://www.requestpolicy.com/1.0.html

This is not yet ready for production usage.

I've only started using it in my main profile today and have already hit (and fixed) a few significant bugs I hadn't noticed in development. There are certainly going to be many, many bugs. There are also various parts that aren't fully implemented yet. For example, the subscriptions are only partially implemented so they aren't yet working.

The following Google Group will be where most discussion happens from here on out:

https://groups.google.com/d/forum/requestpolicy-discuss

The code is on github in the dev-1.0 branch:

Starting with FF38 and RequestPolicy 0.5.28.1, there seems to be something that can trigger this plugin to consume 100% CPU of one core and just keep consuming more and more memory. I've used the plugin for quiet a while before this, and its only with the recent update that this behavior started.

The behavior makes me think there is an infinite loop or a recursion loop that consumes a thread and never stops.

Example:
http://www.netvibes.com/privatepage/1#avob (you have to sign up for a free account)
Then add this widget to the page: http://eco.netvibes.com/apps/558749/stock-portfolio

I've had this page only open, and tracking Firefox's resources, the CPU never comes back down and the memory used just keeps growing. Disabling this plugin causes the page to load normally without causing firefox to grow memory or CPU.

RequestPolicy I believe is abandoned:
RequestPolicy's new version is under development as RequestPolicy Continued. Ultimately, I'd like RequestPolicy Continued to replace RequestPolicy.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... estpolicy/

You should probably remove RequestPolicy and switch over to RequestPolicy Continued which is hosted here, and appears to be under active development:
https://requestpolicycontinued.github.io/
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
