unblockable using proactive either.
===================
UPDATE 2017-08-09
===================

Tested with Pale Moon 27.4.1 with FS 1.4.6b1. or FS 1.4.5
Also tested with Firefox 54 with FS 2.4.6

When Flashstopper is installed the video can't be played by left-clicking it (all you see is the throbber spinning endlessly)

So here's a simple workaround - right-click and choose "play".
After it starts u can use shift-right-click for getting more options like changing the video speed.

Image

If You don't like the right-click-and-play workaround you can use the flashstopper button and choose "allow this site"

(for Pale Moon users)
Here's again yochaim instructions to how to add the flashstopper button to the toolbar.

managing toolbarbuttons in bootstrap add-ons before australis was a big pain...
but i checked another option and found i can add a menu that you can use from my Add-on Tbb.
to make it work do the following:
install FS 1.4.5 - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ions/1.4.5
install Add-on Tbb - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... barbutton/
use this link http://www.byo.co.il/addontbb/downloads.htm to import the FS toolbarbutton (second link)
on the FS button press ctrl+right-click > edit > remove 'flashstopper-popup' from the Button context and put 'flashstopper-panel' in the Button menu or the Button context as you wish...

i've reproduced the issue on FF52
as far as i can tell the effect is caused by FF picking the high contrast theme instead of the default one when the 2 add-ons are enabled.
i don't know why this happens but i think it's an FF issue since it doesn't happen on nightly...
You are probably right...The author of "expire History by days" found a bug page at bugzilla (it may be a dupe of an existing and already fixed bug) :
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1337913
Update to the "Flashstopper cause dimmed buttons issue" when installed with at least one of these addons" issue :

There's a forth addon - Free Haaretz addon - https://github.com/yuvadm/free-haaretz
The other 3 addons are:
Download Cleaner Lite - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... aner-lite/
Tab Tally - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... tab-tally/
Expire history by days - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... y-by-days/

No progress in the bugzilla page - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1337913

BTW the special 2017-04-07 1.4.6b1 version (which is still working in pale moon browser and can still be found here http://www.byo.co.il/Download/newversions.zip ) doesn't have this issue.

Do you know of any other addon which together with FS cause this dimmed buttons issue ?
@yochaim, Is there a chance this issue will be fixed ?

Thanks in advance.

i'm not sure i got exactly what you mean, since it seems to correlate with the expected behavior as mentioned in the add-on description page -
Known issues:
When YouTube SPF is enabled (the thin red line) only the first video in the tab will not autoplay since new videos are loaded to the same player.
if you mean something else please re-explain.
p.s
i have 2 flash forcing add-ons for youtube (for testing). both are not working anymore but this is more an issue for youtube enhancement add-ons...
the https://www.youtube.com/v/... does play flash for me although it doesn't stop, the other is html5 and do stop.
I did not quite understand that the red line and that such SPF)))
When I press the left mouse button on the offered video (NOT playlist !!!), as I showed in the picture, the page with this video opens and the video starts automatically. That is, your plugin does not work if you open a video from the list offered by YouTube. Do not know how else to explain, maybe Google translit translates incorrectly.

p.s. Maybe you misunderstood me. I just informed you that now Flash on Youtube does not work, but it works through a link with "v /" and asked if you can create a plugin that deceives Youtube and forces you to enable Flash. Maybe even you put this function in FlashStopper =) This is just my wish, I certainly do not make you do anything :-)

@LL25255252,

uploaded new test version 2.4.7b1 to AMO, hopefully it will let you read haaretz without breaking the FF theme...
there are few other changes so let me know if everything works for you.

@YaShum

usually when i click on the suggested videos at the end of a youtube clip the video play in the same player (this will not stop by design).
sometimes it will open a new tab and then it will not autoplay.
if you are experiencing something else than let me know...

p.s there are a ton of youtube enhancers add-ons that you can use to configure it exactly as you wish!

Thank a lot @yochaim !! :D :D :D
It seems that this "Flashstopper causes dimmed buttons" issue is finally gone (I tested it with all the 4 addons which "took part" in the issue upto FS 2.4.6 version).

I also use Pale Moon 27.4.1 on Windows and that small video is correctly stopped.
Please try it on a new/clean Pale Moon profile and report back.

No LL25255252, don't try to give me your solutions, because they don't make any sense. people don't need to right click to play videos, but left click,
& since the video was unblockable before yochaim provided a script for it, i don't see why i'd right click an automatically playing video & how your explanation is a "more accurate" solution.
You pretend that you have more accurate solutions than Yochaim who gave me a correct script for flashstopper & confirmed the issue for topsante,
talking about clicking, as long as i have ublock origin... total nonsense.

& from my experience, issues with flashstopper & videos not blocked rarely ever depended on other addons, but configurations, for all fixes i had from yochaim.

So, since your so called "more accurate" solution than the author's one is nonsensical, i doubt you tested it with the right palemoon version or flashstopper version.

I will not respond to your future accurate solutions in the future, in case you decide to insist.

@delicacy1, I had no issues with your last video (from pcworld.com). The video was stopped correctly and a simple left-click played it (it wasn't like the topsante video which I had to right-click-and-play in order to play it). As you you can read below, I have almost the specs as yours (same Pale Moon 27.4.1 and the same flashstopper 1.4.6b1)

When I wrote "more accurate solution" I didn't mean "more accurate" than the dev. I meant "more accurate" than the one I gave you on Jully 31st.

You said :"from my experience, issues with flashstopper & videos not blocked rarely ever depended on other addons," :
Please read the last paragraph on Flashstopper AMO page :
"IMPORTANT NOTICE
This add-on is intended for stopping video autoplay, to achieve full flash blockability it can be complemented with an adblocker & a click-to-play flash blocker (preferably with a blacklist).
The add-on is highly dependent on websites autoplay implementation and is susceptible to changes made by the sites."

You said: " i doubt you tested it with the right palemoon version or flashstopper version."
You can see my specs at the bottom row of my posts here. They are almost similar to yours (Pale Moon 27.4.1). We both also use the same flashstopper v1.4.6b1. Yochaim posted this version 4 months ago after I reported the "dimmed buttons" issue (which by the way returned in Firefox lately so he uploaded 2.4.7b1).

So after I saw that we both use the same browser and the same addon version I took the time and tested it for you on a new profile...

On one thing you might be correct. Maybe I shouldn't have called my right-click-and-play workaround a "solution".

Lastly, @delicacy1, since we both here in this forum in the same Pale Moon "minoroty" so lets "collaborate" instead of argue.

delicacy stop being so hostile... (and you didn't answer about the FS toolbarbutton see http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14757322 and above)

it seems you have html5 video decoding issues that make you get flash player when other (at least LL25255252 & me) get html5 video, which makes the autoplay situation different (so it helps to get result from other users).
to force flash i use about:config & set all media.(decoder).enabled to false, (you should check it at your config to see everything is default & test on http://www.youtube.com/html5 & http://admin.brightcove.com/html5support/index.html) but this doesn't guarantee the same behavior.
amazingly pcworld works for me in all configuration flash/html5 w/wo proactive blocking (PM 27.4.1 FS 1.4.6b1)
also https://www.techhive.com/video/77555/sh ... r-hands-on (same player)
p.s recheck that you don't have FS disabled for pcworld...

Hi yochaim,

yes i did:

"delicacy1:

I don't use fs toolbarbutton, if there's one, i didn't add it or removed it from the bar."

The pale moon staff is trying to make pale moon play some video medias even without media foundation, in recent updates,
so theyre updating their video rendering system. the problem is if i do that:

"force flash i use about:config & set all media.(decoder).enabled to false"

my browser activity will be heavier, it goes lighter on the memory allowing html to take video medias in charge.

& did you mean this:
media.decoder.heuristic.dormant.enabled ? to false ?

i don't have:

media.(decoder).enabled
in about config.

Also, this is blocked properly with or without ublock disabled:
https://www.techhive.com/video/77555/sh ... r-hands-on

but this is blocked if i disabled ublock on the site:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/3095712/ ... creen.html

But it doesn't start if i disable ublock..

I get this & it gets stuck forever:

Image

I use Adobe Flash 25.0.0.156.

@delicacy1, eventually you may be right on another issue - my version of Pale Moon.

Pale Moon was updated on 2017-08-03 to ver. 27.4.1 . My July 31st workaround for the topsante video (right-click-and-play) was tested on Pale Moon 27.4.0.

So I decided now to test the video on a fresh/clean Pale Moon 27.4.1 profile - https://www.topsante.com/medecine/derma ... bace-74637 - again. This time with the new Pale Moon 27.4.1.

The result - The video can't be played with or without Flashstopper (and with or without my workaround).

Anyways, the "right-click-and-play" workaround for the topsante video is needed and works on other browsers like Firefox 54.0.1 and Waterfox 54.0.1
I will later update my July 31st post.

Pale Moon 27.4.1 (32-bit)
Win 7 x64
Adobe Flash 26.0.0.137

with ublock disabled, it froze cause i took forever to click on play..
if i click right after, the video plays.. after that silly warning band from ads "your video begins in 20 seconds"

So i guess one of my filters is preventing the video from being stopped..
Do you know where i should start checking ?

@yochaim, (For Pale Moon users)
I want to recommend Flashstopper to other Pale Moon users. which version should I recommend ? Version 1.4.5 or 1.4.6b1 ?

As I recall, version 1.4.6b1 was introduced on April 2017 after I reported the "first" "dimmed buttons" issue on Firefox 52-53/Waterfox/Cyberfox.
yochaim wrote:hi LL25255252,

tested the issue on FF53 and it is still there...
so i made a version trying a workaround for the FF bug.
you can download it from here http://www.byo.co.il/Download/newversions.zip (the non e10s one)
it may cause problems for FS in certain situation so let me if you encounter any problems.
That issue has never happened on Pale Moon so does that mean that concerning Pale Moon there isn't any difference between the 2 versions ?
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ions/1.4.5
Version 1.4.6b1 doesn't appear on the addon's AMO hompage. So if you recommend this version maybe you should give some link in the addon's homepage.

Thanks in advance.
