concerning myspace videos, i find the site very strange.. so strange that i don't care anymore if support for this site is added or not.
i tried this:
-opened 3 myspace videos on 3 different tabs
-only one video starts playing & the others freeze while buffering..
- & if i pause the one that's playing & try to play one of the two others, the new video on the other tab freezes & becomes grey & plays the previous video

i don't believe firefox does it, but that the html content of myspace is badly coded,
so it doesn't matter at this level if its blocked by flashstopper or not.

I'm going to try to find ex's where flashstopper wouldn't work, for major sites & get back to you,
but at this level, it covers a very wide group of sites which is already near perfection.

Also, i'm facing another issue, do you know why, i have to right click the flash element
location, the empty area & select "play" when it's on "loop" mode by default when
i load any page with a video on this site:

It's the only way to show the actual video's big thumbnail,
so i can play it .. .

i've checked theguardian in the past, it has autoplay setting for the site (you can find it under the video...)
ishare.rediff.com & www.stupidvideos.com will stop with proactive blocking but they won't show thumbnail.

I've seen it but if it's an option based on cookies, knowing that cookies aren't kept forever,
& to prevent having turn off autoplay when the cookies lost, or deleted through a full history cleaning,
adding support to it would be great.

well see what you can do to fix it but if i don't have the choice to have the thumbnail, i prefer having autoplay stopped
on the sites.

i've uploaded improved version to amo site but since you can't use the update i've also uploaded the new handler to http://www.byo.co.il/Download/handler.js so you could replace your file & have the improved functionality.
this should do a better job on some of the site in the list.

p.s
in the future you can always download the latest flashstopper.xpi and extract flashstopper.xpi/chrome/content/handler.js to your profile folder.

FS will stop 'generic' jwplayer autoplay with proactive blocking (see http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/po ... -page-load) ...
but on this site they use inline script to play when you scroll (depending on param autoPlayOnScroll)
it can be stopped changing extensions.flashstopper.replaceregexp in about:config to '(auto(?:_?play(?:video|onscroll)?|start|run)["']?\s?[(=:]\s?["']?)(true|1|!0|yes|y|on|null)(?=\W|$)' (without quotes) and using proactive blocking for http://www.purepeople.com.
this kind of handling will not go into FS officially unless the site is very important (but i'm still looking for more generic ways to stop it).
for now i'm looking more into (http://launch.newsinc.com/embed.html?ty ... d=26416093) the widget used by nydailynews/latimes/chicagotribune...

it's a stitch.. not a fix but thanks. a stitch because: tones of websites use the stupid jw player & i can't do that trick for all websites it's more complex than stopping an autoplayed video..
although i dind't understand anything about the proactive blocking "quick fix"... .

I'm using Firefox 19 and Windows 2000. Although Flashstopper is disabled, each time I try to start FF19, there is a Flashstopper error message that pops up and FF19 won't start until I ok the error message to make it disappear.

Is there a solution to this problem?

although FS 0.9.5 could be installed on FF19 i've never tested it on that FF version before your post. i did now on xp and although i don't get error message it doesn't work...
the lowest FF version i know can support FS is 24 (see correspondence with delicacy above to get almost current functionality).

i was playing with a spacial jwplayer handler that would stop it without proactive blocking. i'm still not happy with it for now...
as usual i've uploaded a version to http://www.byo.co.il/Download/handler.js if you want to try it out (keep backup of your current version!).

Maybe you could try to fix the other ones in the meantime:

I see what you mean, there's no thumbnail in your jwplayer handler .. .
and i've found a tittle near the play icon in stupidvideos, but that's not useful,
because all titles are above each video frames not even mentioning the titlebar,
so you doubled it .. .

my suggestion:


in stupidvideos, you have the corresponding thumbnail per page that you could use by extracting it from the "image_src" section,
only replace _120_90 with _450_378

What you could do is zooming it by 400%, even slightly blured, it's better than no thumbnail..
