Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.3 [2011-08-24]
the edited sample you gave isn't complete. all boundaries must be there, and all content in the mime parts should be replaced with XXX. aside from headers, it should be as complete as possible as View Source. rather than clogging the thread, please send a pm.
how does Tb8 treat this in the attachments pane? with View Inline both off and on. just because a part in 'inline' doesn't mean it shouldn't be counted..

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.3 [2011-08-24]
The message that I posted is mostly complete and has all the boundaries in it. The things that were removed are the From:, To, Cc:, Date: and actual message body to protect the contents. TB8.0a2 showed the same behavior that I mentioned earlier. As for "just because a part in 'inline' doesn't mean it shouldn't be counted" ==> I don't know whether it should be counted or not. But from an avg. end user (like myself) perspective, if the in-line images are counted as actual attachments, then this add-on is of not much of any use IMHO.

AttachmentCount v1.4 has been released.
Please see the homepage for details. This version is for Tb 8.0+ only and has an experimental text/plain attachment preview gimmick.

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
Tried 1.4 with the TB 8.0b1 Build1 and things look promising. Count look good and don't show the false numbers as is the case in earlier versions. In TB 7.x and earlier versions, occasionally I'd also see attachments like "Part 1.2.3" etc, which are not real attachments. With 8.0b1 build 1, no longer see these phantom attachments. I guess they fixed a lot of stuff at the back-end.
Any way to turn off previewContentTypes ?. Meaning if I don't want to see the preview, can it be turned off via any pref?. Thanks

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
Just upgraded to TB 8.0 and installed v1.4 of your addon. Noticed that there are some messages with attachments where the add-on show a question mark "?" instead of the icon or the actual count. Is there a fix for it?. Thanks

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
a "?" will be shown if
- imapAllowDownload value of downloadPrefs is false, thus disallowing the mime message to be parsed;
- messge is nntp, as the Tb api does not support getting an nntp mime message;
- the Tb api fails to return a mime message or some other parsing error;
- alwaysShowCount pref is true, and any of the above are true (rather than an icon).

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
also, Tb8 no longer considers things attachments that were before. so if you click on a message that had both a core attachment icon, and an AC icon/count, both will disappear if it was a not a 'real' attachment.
note that you can shift-click twice on the AC column header to refresh counts, this will clear out old data.

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
Got the following default pref set:
alwaysShowCount=false
attachmentcount.downloadPrefs;{"imapAllowDownload":true,"saneBodySize":true,"imapPartsOnDemand":true}
shift-click twice as suggested cleared the question mark "?". instead now for those messages only, it show a paper clip icon instead of icon/count. Another thing that I noticed that when scrolling through the InBox message list up/down, the attachment count icons refresh automatically (goes away and comes back after a sec or so), which makes it look like doing something in slow motion.

if the message is not a newsgroup (nntp), and the attachment(s) show in the bottom pane when the message is selected, then you need to post/pm the .eml so it can be looked at (after obfuscating personal info and removing any actual binary/text attachment content).

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 1.4 [2011-10-01]
note: if you are using the new View->Message Body As->All Body Parts, then Tb will include all body parts as attachments, and display them in the attachments pane (though they aren't real attachments). AC will, in such a case, display the attachment icon/unknown count if there are no real attachments, otherwise the count for real attachments if any.

I'm not using View->Message Body As->All Body Parts. Thanks

Hi,
AttachmentCount seems to have stopped working in Thunderbird 60. Is there a chance, that you'd update it for compatibility?

Re: [Ext] AttachmentCount 4.0 [2018-08-23]
Hi,
thank you for keeping the Addon up to date.
It seems, that version 4.0 is buggy :'(
In TB52, the attachment column stays empty and I get the error
In TB60, the attachment column is filled with question marks. In the error log, I can see the following error:
