I have the button (although don't use it but it is in the Customize Palette).
Here it is in a clean profile:

Click Customize and check all your toolbars and palette, might be hiding somewhere.

Here is what my Waterfox Customize window looks like. there is NO Session Mgr icon. The one on the right of the picture is the standard Waterfox SM, NOT the SM V0.8.1.13

Hallo,

in the version 57 of Firefox some add-ons don´t work about the new add-on-type.

I hope a new version of session manager is in development.

I love this feature and I need it urgently.

Please work on it to change the current situation.

Thanks a lot.

radar52,
You are using CTR. I'd disable it to see if the SM buttons show again.
BTW, the session manager icon in the right panel is from TMP. Could it be that you use TMP session manager and SM (this ext.) is not enabled?

I think this is the best session management extension for firefox. Like other people i also need it for Firefox Quantum. I'm willing to make a donation if that helps, but i couldn't find a donate link.

in some point you are right - ti rudder back - "MySessions" is buggy it dont save settings. "sessions" (tabs) itself are save into "other bookmarks". i went back to "tab session manager". sorry for this enthousiastic news, looks too good.
the magic number is 51 and you are probably part of it :p

Elhem Enohpi wrote:An update for those wondering if/when a Web Extensions version of Session Manager could be possible:

There are some things that Session Manager does that are still not possible to do with Web Extensions until Mozilla provides the interface (API) to do so. These impact all tab/session restoring extensions, not just Session Manager. Also I can't speak for Morac, even if the APIs are implemented, he may or may not port Session Manager to Web Extensions. I suppose it would be a lot of work.

1. Access, modify, and restore back-forward tab history. This is necessary to be able to restore tabs' histories when restoring a session, in the same way the built-in "show my tabs from last time" does. Otherwise all tab history is lost when restoring a session. That makes it more similar to just opening a set of bookmarks than truly restoring tabs. This is probably the main issue that's blocking Session Manager from working in Firefox 57 the way it does in earlier versions.
- Status: The function/API has been requested, but has not been approved by Mozilla, and nobody is working on it. It was approved for Google Chrome many years ago, and someone was working on it, but it looks like they abandoned it a couple of years ago, and there's no further progress. It seems unlikely to be finished anytime soon.

- https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgr ... 6zY2ZjGSYg

2. Restore sessions without loading all the tabs. Only load the selected tab, and create the others in an unloaded (a.k.a. "discarded") state, until they are clicked on. Important when loading a session with hundreds of tabs!
- Status: The function has been approved by Mozilla for Web Extensions, but at the moment nobody is working on implementing it. However it seems possible to be finished soon, as related work is being done.
It seems that it would depend on allowing Web Extensions to unload/discard tabs, which is currently being worked on (at least for desktop browsers) and nearly complete, here:

There may be other issues I don't know about, but these seem to be the main ones that remain. If you want to express your support for Mozilla to implement the necessary functions in Firefox, you can get a Bugzilla account and vote for the above bugs, particularly 1378651. Please follow Bugzilla etiquette, and just vote for the bug without commenting. Comments like "you need to fix this!" aren't helpful.
For restore session without load all the tab
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1322485
seems solved
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1378647
somebody wrote a workaround but I'm not sure if it works

For tab history still nothing.

Hi,
Would you be releasing a version for Firefox 57 (Quantum)?
This is the most useful extension for firefox, would be great to use it in FF 57.

Thanks.

Hi,

Session Manager is also my favorite addon.
I think that to get those missing APIs we should be laud. We need to put comments of in more visible Mozilla websites and also under articles they are publishing. We can use these links to show them what APIs we need:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14762057
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14772668
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14777435

Some Mozilla websites we should target:
https://medium.com/mozilla-tech
https://hacks.mozilla.org
https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/
https://www.facebook.com/Firefox/
https://www.youtube.com/user/firefoxchannel
https://twitter.com/mozilla
https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/

Some examples of articles recently published where we can show our disappointment:

https://medium.com/mozilla-tech/the-sea ... 520506aa35
https://hacks.mozilla.org/2017/11/new-i ... er-edition

And also other places, I did not mention.
Thanks

Are you familiar with this Google document?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0
(found here: https://www.howtogeek.com/333230/why-fi ... extension/ )
According to this document Session Manager will not be ported to Webextension.

Another page:
https://arewewebextensionsyet.com/
does not contain any information about on Session Manager.

My impression is that for some reason not enough pressure is placed on Mozilla to make required APIs for Session Manager.
Tab Mix Plus requiring the same APIs is well represented on both pages.
