Re: [Ext]Session Manager 0.8.1.13 - January 30, 2017
Let me add my vote to all the previous requests to update Session Manager so that it works under FF 57 (64 bit). This was, without a doubt, the add-on to FF that I used the most, and it was a great disappointment to lose all of my tabs when I upgraded from 32 to 64 bit FF.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Complain to Mozilla on the pages I mentioned few posts earlier. Mozilla needs to prepare missing APIs.
Mozilla rushed so much with getting FF57 without XUL addon support that they did not have time to prepare all needed APIs.

Hi,
it seems Michael will not update this for Quantum (FF57+).
1) An option would be MySessions, not tried it myself yet though
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -sessions/
2) I switched to TabZen. Start FF (pre 57, like the ESS Version) with Session Manager and TabZen. Open your sessions you want to keep and save them with TabZen to a Folder. After you Update you can open the tabs in the folders with TabZen.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabzen/
This might be useful too, it is compatible with the two above.
TabSuspender, suspends tabs so they dont take up memory.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -unloader/

thanks, makondo, I checked and SM 0.8.1.13 IS enabled I will disable CTR and see if that helps. thanks againmakondo wrote:radar52,
You are using CTR. I'd disable it to see if the SM buttons show again.
BTW, the session manager icon in the right panel is from TMP. Could it be that you use TMP session manager and SM (this ext.) is not enabled?

To get around the issue with Session Manager and FF v57, if I already have Firefox 52 ESR installed on my PC, can I also install ver 57 in a different folder and continue to also run v52?

Yes, but you can't use the same profiles in both versions.radar52 wrote:To get around the issue with Session Manager and FF v57, if I already have Firefox 52 ESR installed on my PC, can I also install ver 57 in a different folder and continue to also run v52?

I just upgraded to latest firefox 57. Session Manager is disabled. I use it ALWAYS. Can I go back to previous version, or is there another solution. FYI: I'm a pretty skilled beta tester and wasa programmer long time.

Thank you very much, as well. I hate switching from software that I am very familiar with, and which have worked very well, to something else, but in this case, it sounds like Mozilla is not exactly in a rush to produce the required API's, so I'll probably be forced to check out the ones you suggested. So many new users creating accounts and asking questions that are literally answered on the same page of the thread... Maybe check back a page or three before asking? Just a thought.
I'm using ESR for now. I hope Session Manager will be developed for the new platform once the APIs are in place, as so many others have mentioned it's the add-on I'll miss most, for sure.
A week or two back I donated $100 to the cause as well. Hope that encourages future development but if not at least I finally paid up for all the years usage of this terrific add-on.

It's really great to have an automatic update that breaks all your extensions and makes you loose valuable time realizing that there are no alternatives to the old extensions, good job guys !

Sorry you aren't happy but don't take it out on us. You apparently haven't noticed the disclaimer in the right hand column, but this forum is not run by or formally associated with Mozilla. We're an independent user-helping-user community.

Hi Support volunteers,
I am glad you guys are here to support. I searched a few pages of the forum and I figured my question isn't covered. Hence, I am posting this.
"HOW DO I GET THE SESSIONS THAT I SAVED USING SESSION MANAGER DURING THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF FIREFOX AFTER UPGRADING ?? "
-- I updated my firefox and the session manager is disabled and no more supported. I have a lot of sessions saved which I desperately need now. Is there any way I can get those sessions back which I saved in the old version of firefox using "Session Manager" ??
Any help or work around is appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Hari

@HariHk
Perhaps read a bit more... For example a few pages back in this very topic.
