[Ext] New Tab Homepage 0.4

Post by BenBasson »

New Tab Homepage 0.4
Updated: 24/01/2008

What it does:
Loads your homepage when you open a new tab, using either the menu item, toolbar button or keyboard shortcut. If you have multiple homepages, the first is used.

Details
You can customise this extension to load the new tab in the background by typing "about:config" into the location bar, finding the "newtabhomepage.selectnewtab" preference and double-clicking it. By default, the extension follows Firefox's behaviour and opens new tabs in the foreground.

Compatibility
This might not work well alongside TBE, TBP or TabMix, but if you have those extensions installed, you don't have any reason to use this. Requires Firefox 1.0 or later.

Where you can get it:

Cussar, are you planning to update your extension to support 3.0?

Yeah, there's an update on my site. It'll hit AMO as soon as they allow us to upload extensions with 3.0.* compatibility.

Hey Ben...Just wanted to thank you for that! I've just installed it with FF 3.0.4 on Ubuntu 8.10 and it works fine. Why they ever took it away in the first place I've not idea, so thanks for allowing us to put it back.

Best wishes
Cliff

Dragging this up from the back of beyond, I've got a little bug report for Firefox 4: Pages which use JS to grab the cursor for input fields (most notable Google and the default home page) don't seem to be able to when opening a new tab with NTHP in FF4. Clicking the Home button works fine, as does opening a new window. Any thoughts?

If anyone's still following this thread: Hello. I do intend to update this add-on for Firefox 57 / WebExtensions, but it currently isn't possible. The clock is ticking. In 2 months Firefox 57 will be released, which realistically means that if Mozilla don't accommodate with relevant APIs in the next few weeks, this add-on is going to die. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, although I will commit to doing what I can if they decide to pull their finger out.

What API do you need?
