Since the Firefox trunk builds
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060222 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2006022223)
starting from 2006022220 Adblock+ 0.5.11.2 crashes FF immediately after start. I'd to uninstall ABP 0.5 and use AdBlock+ 0.6.1.1 instead which I don't like due to a severe lack of functionality.
Any idea what makes FF crash with AB+ 0.5 and whether it might be gone soon?

Um... for the sake of discussion, which functions are severely lacking? Not trolling -- just curious! Maybe I'll switch back... :^o

One may consider it a lack of functionaliyt the other thinks it's working perfect... :)
What bothers me is:
- Klicking on the Adblock-icon brings up the filterset instead of the 'blockable items'. For the latter I've got to use the sidebar, which personally I hate, or press Ctrl-Shift-b. Both I regard as less functionality than just a click on the Adblock-icon bringing up directly the list of blockable items.
- The list of blockable items in the sidebar cannot be sorted. Or I didn't find how, at least it does not work by just clicking on the column headers. Having this list sorted makes creating a RegEx much easier.
- It's said that DIV-blocking does not work in AB+ 0.6 but as I'm not to sure what this really means this is not an issue for me.
- Synchronising a filterset (subscription called in AB+ 0.6) between several profiles is possible, but less 'handsome' as in AdBlock 0.5; e.g. there's no possibility to browse through the drives.
- The display of the filterset needs a lot of screen place since the line spacing is baffling big.
- All in all I find the UI in AB+ 0.6 less structured than the one from AB+ 0.5
This all might be only small annoyancies, or even only regarded as those by me, but as the blocking itself comes to same results in the same time in either AB+ 0.5.11.2 or AB+ 0.6.1.1 I prefer AB+ 0.5.11.2. Better, I preferred it until it started crashing my Deer Park.

Cheers,
Toscha

- the toolbar icon brings up the sidebar, which can be detached now so there's no big difference to the old adblock plus
- true, the list cant be sorted yet but that will be added with the next bigger update
- DIV blocking was added again, by blocking by id or class with #id or .class
- cant say anything about synchronizing, never tried
- the line spacing is a matter of taste .. i actually quite like it
- UI is again a matter of taste..i dont find anything annoying about it

I know, it's at least an improvement.

Fair enough. :)
At the end of the day what really does matter in regard to an extension like Adblock is 'does it the job?'. And here there seems to be no difference between AB+ 0.5 and AB+ 0.6. The rest, like UI stuff etc., is just a matter of personal taste. So you can stick with 0.5 or switch to 0.6, everybody as he likes it. :)

Well, some people don't use the toolbar button, so for them is a con.

I don't use either the toolbar button or the statusbar button, so for me it doesn't really matter one way or the other. I use it infrequently enough anyway that View>Sidebar>Adblock Plus is plenty for me.
Plus, if you combine POTO SIdebar and EZ Sidebar together (which I have none of those sidebar-related extensions installed, btw, so I'm just saying), POTO Sidebar gives you the click on the left of the screen and open sidebar functionality (like Opera or AIOS), which EZ Sidebar adds Adblock Plus to the list of sidebars it can open (POTO Sidebar didn't pick it up by itself, for some reason, last I checked [btw, the only point in POTO with EZ already installed would be to add the left-bar to open Sidebar functionality, since EZ only offers a toolbar button to open sidebar by itself]).

Are they adding in support for all the plugins that were not compatible with 1.5? I am mad that to stay the safest browsing I am left without a tool to read websites for me because the dev is too lazy to update it or release his code for the free plugin that does this.

Thanks for notifying me. When I have time I will test it out against the latest trunk builds to ensure compatibility when 2.0 alpha is released.

I'm using AB+ 0.5.11.3 with current trunk builds:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060318 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2006031801 [cairo]
and it works nearly perfect. Only 'Synchronizing' causes trouble as FF/AB+ reports a 'hanging' script.

If Adblock Plus 0.5.11.3 is installed then AOL TV: In2TV refuses to play, it just keeps saying to reinstall the plugin. This is in Firefox 1.5.0.1

Even if Adblock Plus is disabled it won't work. Only after the Adblock Plus extension itself was disabled would it work.

Is Obj-tabs enabled or disabled? Whatever it is, try reversing it.

I'd offer my time to test except the site you linked perpetuates microsofts monopoly in the OS market by requiring XP and media player 10 in order to use the site. Hope all works out for ya though. To stay on topic though does abblock work well otherwise with 2 alpha? How far from beta is 2? I know I've had problems with 1.5 crashing but only with one website I can endlessly browse anything else and have not crashes. I'm hoping that whatever the cause is gets resolved in the next version of firefox.
