Yes, set extensions.privateTab.key.toggleTabPrivate = "" (empty string) in about:config.

Is it known that with e10s, middle clicking to open a link in a new tab does not inherit the private status of the current tab?

Ctrl+Shift+P works fine, autoprivate extension works fine, right click and open in new tab works fine, the new private tab button works fine.

I love this extension and it is the only one that e10s breaks, I am glad to see it being fixed.

edit: I take it back, the autoprivate extension does not work correctly if you insert a domain into a non private tab. However curiously if you are in a private tab and middle click to an autoprivate domain it appears to open in a private tab.

Oops, I somehow missed the notification about your post.
Yes, inheritance was broken... Should work in new version (not yet fully compatible, but some approach).

This is not trivial anymore due to upcoming multiprocess mode...
Also this may be implemented in any other extension for click handling using API.

And unfortunately I even don't have multiprocess-compatible versions of my old projects around click handling:

I think Your extension was hit by https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1220564 No entries under right click on tabs and bookmarks, seems to be broken in latest Nightly.
