Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
Hi, I have created in mozilla bugzilla a request for adding necessary api support for porting the addon to web extensions.
see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1340591
they're asking which specific api are missing and need to be added. I'm not able to give the necessary informations, can you comment on that bug, please?

please can you add your comment in the bug report?
Maybe a direct answer from the addon author could help with mozilla.

Well, looking at the bug's comments it seems that Mozilla won't implement creation of panels in WebExtensions.pag77 wrote:ok, I added comment
I hope they'll change their mind, but if they won't I'll have to change browser, maybe Pale Moon or Google Chrome...
(I have just tested your addon on Pale Moon 27.1.1 and it seems to work correctly)

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
in the worst case you can try implementing your extension using a sidebar (i.e. bookmarks left sidebar) using the sidebar api that mozilla added recently:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208596
it's not ideal but maybe it could be the only way to port to web extensions.

The problem is that there is no API for local file management - rename, check Antivirus....

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
I'm very happy with this add-on, and I'd be willing to contribute, because of its usefulness. However, I have one very frustrating ongoing problem with it.
Every once in a while — more often than not, in fact — I find that a download in progress has been paused, without any action of mine. If I have multiple downloads in progress, they all pause.
Here's the crux of the problem! When I resume any download that's been paused partway, S3 deletes the data already downloaded, and starts again. And most often, pauses again. Worst of all, it seems to happen most often when the download is nearly finished, but not quite. Perhaps 260 KB remain. Since I temporarily have limited monthly throughput, this eats up my bandwidth, my time, and my genial tendencies.
This happens whether or not I'm using a VPN, and happens on any Web site — not just ones that my ISP might be "data shaping".
Please, please offer me a solution to this problem! I DON'T want to give up using S3, nor endorsing it to others.
Best regards,
Steve White

Try disable DownloadManager(S3) and download files without this addon
