> One further question, if I may: what's the behavior difference between the two options (avp.com & avp.exe) in this context?
I do not know.
simply it works, and so and so.

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
I have been using S3 for some time now. But I have a problem...even though I clear the status bar of D/L's one keeps re-appearing every time I open Firefox 41 a jpg file http://prntscr.com/8n4g2z
Please help me get rid of this file, I have tried everything, maybe I'm overlooking something

Go to the menu Help -> Troubleshooting Information (or enter about:support into address line) and then click the Folder Profile - Show folder button.
With sufficient rights you will see all folders and files of your profile
Open folder "s3downbar"
Delete s3db_.....json files, example: s3db_7d7e0460a64309d4c10744f3d2dfe6ab.json

Perhaps the Dev would care to comment...
Firefox extension Download Manager (S3) asks for users to help out, if you do, it starts to spy on you!

Dear Aleksander,
Advertising (generic) is one thing, but targeted advertising (which needs the advertiser to search the User's machine for relevant info) is another deal altogether!
In the former case one may feel the [slight] nag and be content that by seeing the ad (and -- possibly -- clicking on the ad) you get some funds; in the latter however, one also exposes & hurts his own privacy!
You may wish to revise this policy.
All the best,
Eric

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
1. ADVERTISEMENT DISABLED BY DEFAULT!
2. the proposal to include advertising displayed only once!
chrome://s3downbar/content/advertisement.xul
3. THE USER HIMSELF DECIDES - TURN-ON OR TURN-OFF TO ADVERTISING!!
4. ADVERTISEMENT DISABLED BY DEFAULT!
5. Advertising applies only to http
6. Advertising is always disabled for https
7. Advertising is always disabled for private browsing
8. ADVERTISEMENT DISABLED BY DEFAULT!
9. I'm shocked! why people self turn-on advertising and then accuse me of this?
Let's accused Microsoft Windows is that it has a command "format" and user can completely remove all data?

If I were the dev I would remove myself all my ad-ons from AMO. It was very clear in the policy privacy Right beside th "install Button".
Anyway lot of add-ons have disapeared since the announcement that XUL will be deprecated in the next 12-18 months at least 4-5 in the one I use, Dev are saying they don't want lost time to update something that will be deprecated so they will developp first for Chrome.
It's Mozarella at the best !

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
I was in touch with advertising network, and have received the following answer:
“Sending the content of the site was needed in order to make the in-text advertisement work. At no point of time we were planning to spy on someone or steal info.
The html code itself was sent to our cloud servers in order to decrease load on a user’s end. Once content was received, our algorithm analyzed and picked up certain phrases and inserted in text lines on original websites.
After analysis all info was deleted from our cloud and never used later on.
Nevertheless, in order to follow the needs of Oleksandr Popov and the requirements of FireFox AMO, and also in order to avoid this problem for other partners, the following feature was turned off for now.
In the nearest future the tool would be changed so, that most operations would be done on client side.”
From my side I would like to add, that I was a bit confused with such a behavior of users using my app for such a long time, and I do understand that the fear and suspiciousness of several users,
has led to the fact that 100k+ users were not able to use add-on they like and need. On other hand I do understand that nowadays people are really afraid that personal information might be stolen.
Having these thoughts I have contacted advertizing company and the following feature was turned off so that the whole html won’t be sent anywhere any longer.
Fortunately all misunderstandings were solved, my add-on is active again and ready to be installed and used by users.

Re: [EXT] Download Manager (S3)
Hello
I have little problem with the S3 downloadmanager:
I have a very slow Internet connection. So if I want to download large files, I depend on a queue (overnight). Therefore, I have the S3 chosen because the do it best.
With normal downloads (writes first ????.part and only on the end the right filename) it works well (and i can f.e. close FireFox and the download continues, where he was interrupted).
But not so with downloads f.e. from Youtube (with "Video Downloader professional"). I this case FireFox writes directly the file (?????.mp4) and if I paused the download or close FireFoxt, then S3/Firefox deletes the file and the download starts again at the beginning ...
Is there a solution to that problem?
regards
J. Agam
