UPDATE!
I had some time to work on the bug with the patch. As I mentioned I had to update a file in the jar file. So you will have to replace 2 files in the extension. When I have time I'll see about making an installer package and submitting it to Mozilla.

!!! This will probably ONLY work with 0.5.7.4
If you do not have it installed, install it.
To update your gmail manager you will need to know a bit about file system,
namely you know what a file & directory is and the difference.
To install the patch you will need to find these files "gmServiceGmail.js", "gmanager.jar"
In linux you can try
> find / -name "gmServiceGmail.js"
> find / -name "gmanager.jar"
On my OS X system "gmServiceGmail.js" was located in "
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profileID>/extensions/{582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}/components"
and "gmanager.jar" was located in "
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profileID>/extensions/{582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7}/chrome"
I am not sure if "582195F5-92E7-40a0-A127-DB71295901D7" is the same for all installs. However gmail manager should be the only Firefox add-on that has the files called "gmServiceGmail.js" and "gmanager.jar".
To be safe, I would rename the original "gmServiceGmail.js" to "org_gmServiceGmail.js".
Then copy my patched version of "gmServiceGmail.js" in to that dir.
Like wise rename the original "gmanager.jar" to "org_gmanager.jar".
Then copy my patched version of "gmanager.jar" in to that dir.
Restart Firefox and enjoy.
