Micke_h wrote:Thank you for a great extensions, really love it. Especially the newly designed icons, they really fit well with the default theme of Firefox.

In the new version you also added custom colors for tab view. I nice thing but, is it possible to make it not apply on the "tab" itself and to apply on the background of the text? Maybe it is just me but I think it looks kinda ugly this way when it is turned on =(

I already got complaints of the transparent labels! Some related improvements in the new version:
- Background color can be changed for window and sidebar modes.
- "Plain" style labels are opaque.

Right now, they use the default label background color, although you will be able to change that using the userchrome.css file. I can post instructions on how to do this, if you want!

I'm going to release an "unstable" version soon. Although it will be quite stable, it will contain "work in progress". That version will contain those features plus some more important changes...

Just tried it, but it won't crash...
If talkback was installed during Firefox installation (custom option) then posting a talkback ID will enable us to look at the stack trace at the time of the crash. I found this useful in analysing Flashblock crash reports.

Thanks for this great extension!

I have only some little problems: there isn't any background color around the thumbnails and the thumbnails have not the same colors as the real window (blue switch to red,...).
I checked that there wasn't any conflict with another extension and that it was not due to my theme (Noia) (it's the same with firefox default theme).

I have the version 0.5.8.2 of Showcase and my system is Win98 SE, Firefox 1.5.0.1 (Fr).

New version wil add background color on labels :) Meanwhiles, you may use a different label style... the "in a box" style will show opaque labels.

That blue -> red problem is caused because a bug in firefox implementation when using a color depth of 16 bits in windows :( if you switch to 24 bits, the problem should be solved...

I use a color depth of 24 bits so that's not the problem :?

For the label style "in a box", do you know how it is translate in French?

Preview Quality

Post by plusone »

Thanks for the goooooooood extention :)

BTW, I think it you should improve the quality of the preview when you see multi-tab pages.
It's ok when you see just one ,but the quality of the preview of more than two pages is not clear as you can see at the bottom image even if those are in the sidebar, new window, or new tab.

Does anyone have this working in the Minefield nightlies? The feature works by and large except that the previews are all white boxes instead of the actual tab content.

Is it possible to add an option to set always "x" numbers of thumbnail showing in showcase,
lets say, i set it to showing 4 in main, while when i hv opened up 10 tabs, but it will show up only 4 in main showcase window, and the rest can be scroll down to see it?

What about 32 bits? I'm afraid I really can't help too much, since the feature of drawing a browser thumbnail doesn't depend on my code... Maybe you can find more about that topic at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org

Not really :) I'm not the author for the translations... Next version should be out by next week, so I'll ask the translator to look at that.

I'm afraid that any thumbnail rendering extension won't work at the moment. This is because they've changed some internal stuff (they've moved the rendering library to Cairo), so thumbnail rendering is broken for now... Since Showcase does everything else correctly, I'm sure my extension will work really well on minefield once this feature is fixed.

I think you can get some non-Cairo enabled builds, but I would stick to Minefield for now.

I agree completely with you... but the quality doesn't depend on my code. Anyways, I know that the thumbnail quality will improve in future versions of Firefox. I've an idea that could improve the quality of the thumbnail, but I think it would slow the thumbnail rendering quite a lot...

For now, you may consider using the zoom feature (the "mouse over" one or the "middle click" one).

Next version features scrolling... it works by size, and not number of thumbnails per row at the moment, although I don't think it would be difficult to add! Also, I think it's more useful by size, because you can have a small showcase window that will show big enough thumbnails. I implemented this feature specially for the sidebar, where is enabled by default, but you can enable it for the other modes in the configuration.

The development for this version is finished, and I'm waiting for some of the translations... hopefully, it will be available in a week and half. I'll make a post here once it is.

Problem on OS X

Post by ranjeetsodhi »

The extension doesn't seem to work properly on OS X (Intel - Macbook Pro).
The colors don't render properly, everything has a bluish tinge - have a look at the picture.

I'm quite sure this must be a bug in Firefox, and probably you'll see it in all extensions which make use of the thumbnailing feature... the Intel Mac OSX version is quite new, so I guess they'll solve it soon!
