@ Geva

Suggestion:

What about adding some additional features, such as: poster, title, genre, imdb rating, and trailer (in which the trailer is a mere link that opens in a new tab, if available of course). See example of what I mean.

Or maybe something like this.

<a href="http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imdbprevieweg27go.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/7499/imdbprevieweg27go.th.png" border="0"></a>

Looks very nice! It could be nice to have those ratings with stars even :)

I even thought about more advanced features such as optionaly showing the names and posters of the first 2 actors listed in the cast. Although their posters will take much longer to load as they are on two diffrent pages.
It's really unfortunate that the images on IMDb all have random names... Otherwise it would be a snap to load those things.
Another idea I had is to preload all links on the page to save time. Could be unwanted when there are a lot of links on the page, as there usally are in imdb.com

Well, before I get to implement and publish those new features I want to fix any bugs exist, so please tell as much as you can on problems you've encountered.

Naah.. tried all you said - nothing works.. the loading sign just doesnt come. And I liked that sign so much, I downgraded to Version 0.2 at the cost of the loading time, :).

Ratings would be great - looking forward to next release.

Rankings - I meant just the rank (if it exists) in the top 250 or bottom 250. I myself am not a member of imdb pro, but you're right - very few have access to pro. I'd just like the top 250 rankings..

And maybe future versions could have different user customizations - some could choose to view snippets of the plot / quotes from the movie-actor / rankings + oscars / user reviews etc.. just depends on how much a user can afford to wait (and how fast the connection is) and if the UI looks just as good / better in future releases, might as well use only this and not imdb.. ;)

ibordaru's format looks nice.. UI could be a little better.

and great idea of loading leading actors.

and maybe for preloading links, you can prune considerably - just load the top 4 names in cast, and few links like quotes, reviews, awards etc..

Oh, and for the bug : I'd upgraded from Ver. 2.0 to Ver 3.0 on a Firefox v1.5.0.4. Reinstalling, uninstall + reinstall didn't work.. But doesn't matter.. I dont mind the slight increase in loading time.

Hi Guys. I cannot install this extension. I have firefox 1.5.04 and when i try to install it says, "IMDb Preview 0.3 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 1.5.0.4 (IMDb Preview 0.3 will only work with Firefox versions 1.5 to 1.5.0.*)"

Apparently it's too stupid to know that the astrik sign means 1.5.0.0 to 1.5.0.9 ....
Any tips to installing this?

You can either try Nightly Tester Tools or MR Tech's Local Install extensions. I use MTLI 5.2. It has a screen that offers you to Override Max Version (click the checkbox) and that should do the trick. It always does for me!

sursum wrote:Hello Geva,

I love your IMDB Preview add-on for FireFox. I'm wondering if you would consider making it compatible with IMDBPro as well? I'm guessing that the difference in the URL is what's preventing it from working now. The URL for IMDBPro uses a subdomain - http://pro.imdb.com/ .

Thanks for this helpful tool. If you can enable it's usage in IMDBPro, please let me know!

Hi sursum,
As of v0.2, the extension supports all subdomains. So that shouldn't be the issue.
It could be that it doesn't work there, if IMDBPro pages have different structure of the html layout. I don't have access to IMDBPro, so I can't test it there. If you could post a copy of the html there, I'll be able to let you know if that's the case.

Hello Geva,

Thanks for your fast response! I'm using 0.3, but but it isn't working in IMDBPro. The preloader popup appears and spins, but then no content ever appears. I've tried pasting in some of the code here between [ code ][ /code ] tags, but many of the variables disappear? Strange. I'll send it to you via PM and see if you can get it that way.

It isn't complete in the PM too. Send it to my gmail account: gevazeichner.
Please send me the html source of a movie page and of an actor page.
Thanks.

OK I've looked at the files. The problem is definitely because the layout is different in the pro version.
I'll try to do adjustments in following versions.
