That's a pretty good idea, thanks. I'll put it in the next release.

LiveClick 0.1.5

Post by protejohnny »

For those interested, AMO just approved the latest release of my extension, LiveClick 0.1.5. The update includes the suggestions above, plus a couple other noteworthy ones:

1) It lets you preview a feed without having to add the Live Bookmark. Just right click the orange RSS icon in the address bar and select the feed you want to view. Works best if you have an XML stylesheet (or the FeedView extension) installed.

2) It lets you use favicons in place of the RSS icon in your bookmarks menus. The question of changing livemark icons has come up before, so I hope this update provides a good solution... even though it's a secondary feature of the extension! ;) It works with Favicon Picker, too, so you can manually change the icon.

I'm working on updates a little faster than AMO can approve them, so check out my projects page ( http://liveclick.mozdev.org/ ) for the incremental updates. The next major release will let you use favicons for livemarks on the bookmarks toolbar and include other enhancements. Feel free to suggest other improvements.

Great job man!

A thought - for those of us with only 2 button mice, could you give the 'Middle Click' option an alternative Ctrl(or Alt or Shift)+click function?

Nice work, keep it going!!

How can I manually change the favicon for my live bookmarks using favicon picker? I'm having a hard time with it

This is simply pure awesomness. I've been wanting something with this behavior since they moved the RSS icon to the address bar. When it used to be in the status bar you could just click on that icon to allow you to preview the feed. Then they moved it and there was no functionality for that.

Thank you thank you thank you! You should submit this as a bug and offer up your code so they'll incorporate it by default!

It should be as easy as changing any other bookmark icon. There's a big exception, though: you can't use favicons for live bookmarks located directly on the bookmarks toolbar yet. This ability will be added in an upcoming release of LiveClick. If you're having a different problem, could you be more specific on what the trouble is?

iBoRDarU, keithy397, fanofthefox, Schrade, and others:
Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I really appreciate it and hope to add more features soon.

LiveClick 0.2.0 alpha testers wanted

Post by protejohnny »

Does anyone have time to test out an alpha of LiveClick 0.2.0? I'd like to get feedback on some of the new features, which include styling read and unread live bookmark items, marking feed items as read, and using favicons with livemarks on the bookmarks toolbar.

It won't take more than 5 minutes of your time, especially if you've installed a previous version of this extension or you're a regular user of Firefox's live bookmarks. Please PM me with your e-mail address if interested. Thanks!

AMO just approved the latest release: LiveClick 0.1.5.3. It's a fairly minor update, though it does add the important feature of localizations.

New in LiveClick 0.1.5.3:
Added es-AR, es-ES, fr-FR, it-IT, nl-NL, pt-BR, ru-RU locales
Fixed a couple of non-critical JavaScript errors
