[Theme] Red Cats (green flavor) 5.6.3 [2014-03-01]

Post by Red_Fat_Lazy_Cat »

There can never be too many cats! Turn your Firefox into Firecat and enjoy browsing in the furry company. The theme is also available in blue flavor. There will be NO other flavors of Red Cats nor will there be a dog version of the theme.

Version for Firefox 29+ (Australis) is currently in development.
Latest version: Red Cats 5.6.3 for Firefox 4.x -27.0.x and Windows/Mac/Linux
If you're using Firefox 2.x - 3.5.x, install version 4.2.4 instead

Supported (themed) extensions

About:Config, AdBlock Plus, ChatZilla, chromEdit, Extension Options Menu, Get Mail, Go Up/Uppity, MR Tech Toolkit, QuickNote, RestartFirefox, RSS Icon in Awesombar, ScrapBook, Simple Add-ons Button, Simple Options Button, Stylish, Themes Menu, Undo Closed Tab Button

Hacks

You can spice up the theme with a few hacks - just add the respective code to your userChrome.css and restart Firefox. Note that the code should go BEFORE any other text you may find inside userChrome.css or it won't do the trick.

  • Change the background color of selected tab (Red Cats 5.0.0+):

    • Bronze tab Image

      Code: Select all

      @import url(chrome://global/skin/hacks/Bronze_tab.css);

    • Emerald_tab Image

      Code: Select all

      @import url(chrome://global/skin/hacks/Emerald_tab.css);
  • Old fashion Back-Forward button - for those who're using Firefox 3+ and missing the Forward Cat (Red Cats 4.2.3+) :

    Image

    Code: Select all

    @import url(chrome://global/skin/hacks/oldBackForward.css);

have a problem with this theme since FF upgraded itself to 3.0. i now have 3.0.3 & still a problem. & it's not with the Fwd button. that's fine.

i don't have or use all the icons you show. but the icons & text on the top Nav Bar are smaller than the ones on the bottom bar. was having so many problems with FF Sat i completely uninstalled it. even went to %APPDATA% & cleaned out all Mozilla files there so would clean start when i was ready to try again. did that this am & have same problem with theme.

any reason why? am i supposed to put all icons on bottom Nav Bar like you show? didn't have to b4. like i said, do not have all those icons you show & do not even use all i do get.

thanks, Kitty

Sorry, somehow I missed one of the topic reply notification so didn't see your previous question.

Back on topic, what top Nav Bar are you referring to? My best guess is that it's menubar; if this is the case, then the text size shouldn't be any different from, say, the Bookmarks toolbar. If it is, disable any extensions and remove the userChrome.css hacks, if any. Also, a screenshot would be of great help.

hello RFLCat, hope this works! ^^^^ guess i'll leave that tab open for a bit since i am not a registered user of ImageShack. was more hoping i could copy & paste the image in here. did go to KB to see how to do that but only got the directions to do this. (sorry, am on a pain med & am a little loopy.)

ok, do not understand how my last post is dated yesterday, but whatever! when i right click on the 2 bars at the top of the screen, they, as in both, are being called "Navigation Toolbar," so that's what i've been calling them. from there i can Customize or add Bookmarks bar.

if you do get to see my screen shot, if you compare the icons & text on the bottom NavBar, they are indeed larger than the icons & text on the top NavBar. it's not cause of any clutter, i just rearranged them a little yesterday to test something that did not happen. making more room for those icons & text do Not help!

oh wow! when i previewed, i saw the image! hope it's big enuff for ya.

thanks, Kitty

Ah I see now - your screen shot did help a lot. However this is not a theme bug. Switch to the default theme and see it for yourself.

The solution is simple: right-click on any toolbar -> click Customize -> check the "Use Small Icons" option, uncheck it right away -> congrats, you should now have _large_ icons in your menubar.

no, sorry, did not have small icons checked. & that doesn't explain why top bar icons are smaller than bottom bar icons. must be something else. & sure don't want 3 bars.

thanks anyway, Kitty

You misunderstood. I didn't ask whether or not you had the "Use Small Icons" options checked. I asked you to click on it twice in a row - first check, then uncheck and your problem would be solved right away.

Hey, thanks - I didn't know you were a cat person! But judging by your new avatar (which I just love, by the way), you seem to prefer big cats... ;)

We were owned by a long haired tortoiseshell tabby for a while :) (If cats ever find out how to open tins, we are doomed)
I am a Mod.. What else do you think we do, except discuss Cats & Chocolate ??
And yes, the full colour, and complete version of my Avatar is currently adorning my right leg, along with various other wild life ......

Anyway your themes are some of the more unusual and striking :)
By the way, any chance of theming the Undo Close Tab Extension's Button to open a closed tab ?? It looks a bit lonely :)

Well the majority of cats are already adept in the art of opening saucepans, shelves, fridges and such so one can extrapolate that tins will be mastered one day or another. Now there _is_ something to be afraid of! :twisted:

Ahhh you're definitely overpraising me...but thanks again! :) As for Undo Close Tab, I'll try to theme it as soon as I'm done with updating my two other themes which is my top priority at the moment. Shouldn't take long, though...
