Suggested enhancement
Been using the tweaks for a few weeks. I really like the format, and the buttons at the top, the immediate opening, but mainly the fact I can open it in a tab, _in the background_.
My suggestion would be (if it hasn't been suggested) an extra option to force the tab (regardless of any e.g. tabbrowser extensions settings) to open on the extreme left or right (or top or bottom) of the tab list.
Otherwise, I love it!

Suport this.
How about using more than 1 download thread per file ?
This would do wonders to the performance.
In general, I don't understand why all built-in download managers (FireFox, Netscape, IE)
always use a single download thread and you need a third party DM for speed.
Ok, third-party DMs can invest in functionality and offer more options.
But something as basic as speed ?

<b>UPDATE: New version 0.5.2 released</b>
Version 0.5.2 of the Download Manager Tweak has been released to coincide with the release of Firefox 1.0PR.
It is compatible with 0.9.x and 1.0PR.
You can download extension's installer here: <a href="http://dmextension.mozdev.org/">http://dmextension.mozdev.org/</a>
(You may need to add mozdev.org to your trusted install sites.)
Note: It will take a little while for the .xpi file to propagate to all the mirrors, so if the install link doesn't work, wait a few hours and try again.
Thanks.

i really like this extension.
however, i think there is a problem with the internal structure of the downloadable "downloadmgr_052.xpi" which makes it impossible from being installed correctly.
when i downloaded the xpi, its contents looked like this:
downloadmgr_052.xpi/downloadmgr.jar
downloadmgr_052.xpi/install.rdf
instead of
downloadmgr_052.xpi/chrome/downloadmgr.jar
downloadmgr_052.xpi/install.rdf
as soon as i've repacked it like this it installed without problems and now works perfectly in 1.0PR :)
keep up the good work!
regards, oliver

ovortex,
thanks for posting the info about repacking it, it solved my hours-long struggle to get this extension installed. hopefully someone will correct that in the official .xpi.
in case anyone else out there is like me and didn't know what was involved in repacking:
1) open the .xpi in winzip/winrar/whatever.
2) make a new folder in the archive called \chrome
3) move the downloadmgr.jar file into \chrome
4) now it will install correctly.
thanks for the help! love this extension, it keeps me from closing firefox with a download manager window open and thus losing all my sessionsaver saved tabs.

I've tried out "Download Manager Tweak" 0.5.2 recently in Firefox 1.0 PR (in both my current profile, and a new one), and I noticed a JavaScript Console error you may want to take a look at.
(If it doesn't show up, make sure that javascript.options.showInConsole is set to true in "about:config".)
It shows up after you save a link (saving images doesn't generate this error), and will show the exact same error message twice, for every link being saved:
Just letting you know of this

More info & buttons on sidebar display
I love having the download manager in the sidebar, but it NEEDS to have the speed & stats shown on each download line like in tab or window mode. Also the buttons to pause/etc. on each download.
In fact, the sidebar needs to look just like the tab and window views =P
This would be virtually perfect if it had these features, which are actually already implimented, just the layout needs to be changed.
That's my opinion... cheers!
